Their defense is crazy good this season. They also have held their opponents to the lowest field goal percentage and lowest 3 point percentage at 41.6% and 31.3% respectively.

And while player defensive rating is not the best stat, it is still interesting to note that among players with at least 20mpg this season, the Timberwolves have 6 players in the Top 10 player defensive rating.

Gobert might have a shot at another DPOY, if they continue their defensive dominance and if the narrative allows for it.

That's what happens when you have tiny sample size.

They're off to a hot start, when they have a shit month it'll normalise. They'll still be either best or near to it. But 5 points better than the next best defence isn't going to stay.

Though I said the same shit about Kings offense, but they did have the healthiest season of all time by a mile. Completely abnormal statistically.

But chances are they don't maintain this.

You're right, but people aren't gonna want to heat it.

Opponents are shooting a hair under 32% on open and wide open 3s against the Wolves. That isn't the defense that's causing that, it's shooting luck.
