The metal will not stretch in the same way a leather strap will. This can be a positive or negative depending on how much you fluctuate in sizing (hydration, sodium, temperature, ect…). Some higher end watches have mechanisms to make micro adjustments between links or having to make a new hole.
Another significant difference is the limited choice a metal bracelet provides. One watch normally has one bracelet choice while straps are normally interchange to account for the much more frequent wear / damage.
