Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.
The rules are simple:
- The post can be a single image, an image gallery, or a link to a specific comic hosted on another site (the author's website, for instance).
- The comic must be a complete story.
- If it is an external link, it must be to a specific story, not to the root of the site.
- You may post comics from others or your own.
- If you are posting a comic of your own, a maximum of one per week is allowed (I know, your comics are great, but this rule helps avoid spam).
- The comic can be in any language, but if it's not in English, OP must include an English translation in the post's 'body' field (note: you don't need to select a specific language when posting a comic).
- Politeness.
- AI-generated comics aren't allowed.
- Adult content is not allowed. This community aims to be fun for people of all ages.

It is hysteria. The outcry is fully unreflective of social conditions, at least within the United States. Go back to the 1980s, when all the millennials were being born, and describe the modern era - historic low crime, a superabundance of cheap consumer goods, massive housing surpluses, cheap and inexhaustible energy, no nuclear wars. We're not living with acid rain or radioactive wastelands or Soylent Green levels of food shortages. The scariest thing about AI is that it sucks.
Imagine how many people wouldn't have had kids 40 years ago knowing the modern state of America.
So much of this shit really is just terminally online doomerism. It's not material.
He is baiting us into being uncivil.
Ignore him.
Thank you for your comment. It properly explains to me that those who feel positive about this current period of history are absolutely out to lunch
The presence of nice things does not dismiss the increasingly bad things that are verifiably happening on a near-daily basis.
I agree. But this is totally divorced from the urge to have children, which is far more biological and has never been blunted by economic downturn.
Economic downturns contribute to higher infant mortality which often leads to people having more children with the anticipation that some won't survive to adulthood.
If only "economic downturn" were the only problem. I can't understand why you keep downplaying the situation we're facing like we're being unrealistically pessimistic.
"The situation we're facing" has no impact on people's primal desire to fuck.
You're trying to apply a long term rationalist lens to horny 20 year olds.
There’s an entire homeless camp near me that popped up in a month and it’s freezing. You should say it to them.
Homeless encampments don't appear out of nowhere. Have you talked to anyone in these camps? As often as not, they're migrant population forced from one place to another.
If the weather warms (or the police clear them out) and they move somewhere new, will you assume the economy improved?
If they'd been rounded up by ICE before they arrived, would you think the economy was still doing fine?
Keep ignoring all the road signs that there is a curve ahead. No need to slow down. In fact, speed up.
