RULES
- Be respectful: no harassment, hate speech, bigotry, and/or trolling.
- Encourage conversation in your OP. This means including heavily implicative subject matter when you can and also engaging in your thread when possible.
- Avoid controversial topics (e.g. politics or societal debates).
- Stay calm: Don’t post angry or to vent or complain. We are a place where everyone can forget about their everyday or not so everyday worries for a moment. Venting, complaining, or posting from a place of anger or resentment doesn't fit the atmosphere we try to foster at all. Feel free to post those on !goodoffmychest@lemmy.world
- Keep it clean and SFW

That’s not true, but don’t think folks should be downvoting you.
I literally bring a physical book with me everywhere I go. I brought my 600+ page book to the hair salon last night so I could read while I waited. I usually have a small book of short stories in my purse so I can read whenever I want. Part of what I love about books is they come in all sizes so they can be taken everywhere.
Good for you. Not everyone does that, nor had the ability to do that. Which is why alot of people are on their phones. The OP is feeling bad about being on his phone, which he shouldn't feel bad about because everyone is on their phones.
I highly doubt the number of people who cannot carry a book outweighs the people who choose not to carry a book.
I understand the OP is feeling bad about it, which they shouldn’t. In my own comment to the OP, I suggested taking time to read for an hour instead of scrolling, I’ve done this for years instead of watching tv. It’s something I suggest to anyone who feels bad about too much phone time or not reading enough.
Most folks have time to read, we just have to choose to spend time reading over other activities.
