Hello,

Been a few years since I have done this so the process is a bit fuzzy for me.

In my lab I have a single 2019 std server with AD, DHCP, DNS and DSFR.

I've built a new 2022 std server and joined it to my domain.

Am reading plenty of guides but cannot fund a single guide to move all the services my current 2019 serves to 2022.

What I am unsure about is when to move/migrate DHCP and DNS.

Am I correct to follow this path.

Migrate 2019 AD to 2022

Demote 2019

Install DHCP and DNS on 2022 then Migrate 2019 DHCP and DNS scope/records to 2022

Remove DHCP and DNS on 2019

Delete/decom 2019 server (after all seems well).

Thank you and cheers in advance.

edit: or another thought, follow the AD migration guide and then just install/create new DHCP and DNS services on the new 2022?

Or change old dc IP and run ipconfig /registerdns. Make sure to update DNS on each dc as you go. Change new dc to old IP of 2019 dc and run ipconfig /registerdns. No reconfig of DHCP or IP helpers required. Decom 2019 once you are sure it's all good.
