Does anyone know how these compare against the b2, or b3? Haven't seen a review comparing them.

Hey, hope this helps:

Been listening to my Nova unit for a week or so. I can only compare them to the S8 which is a little different since it's not a hybrid but still a good metric. Will leave a list of songs I tested with at the end.

  • Nova treble feels recessed in comparison, especially noticeable in percussion, and the imaging isn't as impressive in terms of depth. But an easy listen at least.
  • Other than that, I think the Nova is basically on par. For real. I keep going back and forth between these sets and trying to pin down what's going on. Although the Zero (/Red) was disappointing to me, I really liked the Hexa. This is clearly on another level.
    • If you're like me and you want vocals right up in your business- they are great, no notes. Very little of the "grain" that I've found the other Truthear sets to have.
    • Instrument timbre (especially sax, piano, acoustic guitar) is quite accurate. Sometimes a violin or trumpet will get a little hot.
    • Bass is not as "scooped" as you'd expect by looking at graphs. It's powerful, whatever driver they're using can seriously push air. Kick drum impulses you never knew about get exposed in the mix. Bass guitar plucks are more audible than sustained tones, so it's really fun for things like Rage Against the Machine. 808s in modern hip hop can rumble like crazy but at the same time feel like they lack body.

Songs:

!50 Ways to Leave Your Lover - Paul Simon; Stomp! - The Brothers Johnson; Give Life Back to Music - Daft Punk; Reasons Why - Nickel Creek; Your Latest Trick - Dire Straits; I Wish - Stevie Wonder!<

Have you tried foam tips on them?
