Help for choosing the best headphones for my husband to replace his ATH-M50x (alien.top)

Hello headphone audiophile people! I want to get my hardworking husband a nice gift this Christmas and he has complained about his ATH-M50x starting to fall apart for quite some time. I have read a lot and it seems these are very very good but I am sure there are better out there.

He records music occasionally and uses them for that. The cord feature is still desirable because I think he will believe the sound is better and this is only for at home listening anyways. I think noise cancelling would be cool since we have a 2 year old but not a necessity. He mostly listens to music and games with them - loves classical, metal, and punk music. Comfort is also important for long days working on the computer.

I am happy to spend 200 euros ++ if it means a better experience for him. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

probably better to ask him, especially since he records music

frame it as helping you buy a present for you or a relative of yours
