What is the point of this project if studio already did this?
It's going to be better in every way because it's not a cash grab
It’s more akin to a remake than a remaster if you look at screenshots and trailers. This project is a lot more ambitious than the one Bethesda released.
So better graphics?
I wouldn't necessarily say that. Just more detail. More handcrafted assets. Bigger and expanded level design.
The best bethesda content has consistently come from the modding community. The bugs and poor engine design persist all the way up to starfield so it's no surprise.
It's tough, they started this project well over 10 years ago. A rotation of modders rather than a full professional developer team just isn't going to be able to pump out something that quick.
The saddest part is that Skyrim is now almost 15 year old, which makes it 3x older than the difference between Skyrim and oblivion. The engine is older than the time difference between the release date of both games.
Yeah, it may be too ambitious. I donated when the project started, but today I don't even play games anymore.
It's been in development since before we even knew about the official remaster. From what I've seen it's more of a remake, with layout changes to cities, new locations and quests, among other things. Meanwhile the official remaster is mostly just oblivion with more modern graphics and adjustments to the leveling system.
