Why is Shaq hating so much in the in-season tournament? The reason why it's a thing is because the ratings are shit not until the playoffs.

It's hard for players to care for it because they are making too much money already, 500k you can find that in Lebron couch like it's pennies.

But at the end, it's about generating hype for viewers like us, so it doesn't matter if players and guys like Shaq doesn't get it. But if the numbers and ratings are high, their paycheck will also be high at TNT then maybe next year they will all care some more.
