Someone in this thread said small watches look good on men, but I think the real unpopular opinion here (on Reddit specifically) is the opposite. To my eyes 36mm and below pretty much always looks too small and feminine on average sized male wrists. Justifying the look by saying they used to do it in the past and calling it "classic" styling isn't much different than wearing oversized suits, undersized ties or fedoras because your grandpa wore them.
8.5" wrist here, my first watch was a 40.5mm Seiko Starlight dress watch and it looks small on me.
No, not everyone can wear 36mm watches and 38mm doesn't look good on everyone.
