Regarding spoilers; Please put "(Spoilers)" in the title of your post if you anticipate spoilers, as we do not currently have a spoiler tag available. If your post contains an image that could be considered a spoiler, please mark the thread as NSFW so the image gets blurred. As far as how long to wait until the post is no longer a spoiler, please just use your best judgement. Everyone has a different idea on this, so we don't want to make any hard limits.
Please use spoiler tags whenever commenting a spoiler in a non-spoiler thread. Most of the Lemmy clients don't support this but we want to get into the habit as clients will be supporting in the future.

lol what?
I'm saying this is a waste of time. Dude has a MASSIVE platform, and instead of actually using it to continue to slow/stop the spread of fascism, he does this.
It's a waste, and he should feel bad about it.
You’re right. There’s no way to do more than one thing at a time.
yeah it's obviously impossible to convey political messages through art, and especially to adapt LotR in a way that promotes anti-fascism
Becoming a martyr of sorts by losing his years-long TV show for making a joke about the president seems like doing enough to me.
What else do you expect him to do, tell everyone what a piece of shit the president is? I think everyone already knows that.
What else could he do? I don't know, maybe continue to produce biting political satire? Do you really think that's not useful?
He's literally being deplatformed, though. Fans will follow, but outreach to the general public is essentially gone.
He could go literally anywhere and have a huge platform.
Hell, he could create his own platform and be wildly successful
You cannot deplatform people like this, unless you literally arrest them for continuing their work.
Look at Tucker Carlson. He kept plugging away and will probably be president in three years.
Exactly
