I don't want this to feel like I'm against everything you say ;) , but I don't think Vader is coming back. He is here to fill the gaps of the words Maul said in Rebels S2, and to allow Devon to cross to the Dark Side. Her master has to die, Maul betreayed him to add a cherry on top. My guess is that next season(s) we will see how Devon becames his pupil,. and how she discover the redention path and either die or just leave Maul. I have to wonder if the police Lawson is really dead, I don't think so, he watched Maul's betrayal when he pushed Devon's master into Vader, he has to tell that story to Devon or by proxy.

It's all guessing of course, Vader could be a prominent figure on S2, but I don't think Filoni likes to abuse of his presence, he doesn't like to use the canon characters as much as they are needed

No worries. Happy to swap theories.

The reason I think Vader might return is that when the Inquisitors confirm they've found Maul in Rebels they call up Vader quickly. They're clearly chasing him and know Vader wants to find him.

I expect Maul will cross paths with the Inquisitors again, although I bet Maul gets the upper hand. We know the Eleventh Brother (white mask guy) is eventually defeated by Ahsoka in "Tales of the Jedi", so he's "safe". But First Brother/Marrok has a more complicated story. We know he "survives" until the the first season of "Ahsoka", but when he dies it's some night sister magic death. So I'm guessing Marrok will hunt Maul, but not tell Vader and try to defeat Maul himself.

Maybe Marrok will side with Maul? Maybe Vader will view Marrok not reporting Maul as betrayal and kill him? Maybe Vader never finds out and we don't see him again?
