A place to share practical, durable and quality made products that are made to last, with an emphasis on upcycled and sustainable products!

Guidelines:

Things that are well-made and durable (even if they won't last a lifetime) are A-Okay!

Unlike that other BIFL place, Home-made and DIY items are encouraged here, as long as some form of instruction is included in the body of the post.

Videos links are not allowed as post titles, but you may use them in a text post.

A limited amount of self-promotion is accepted, IF the item you are selling aligns with this criteria:

  1. The item must be made with sustainable or recycled materials.
  2. If electronic in some way, the item must be open-source.
  3. The item must be user-serviceable (if applicable).
  4. You cannot be a large corporation.
  5. The post must be clearly marked with a [Self Promotion] tag in your title.

I bought a cheap one off Amazon to see if it would help my insomnia. It seems to work, but this particular blanket triggers my allergies, perhaps it's the polyester.

Anyway, I'm looking for a better one, ideally from a reputable brand, not one of the faceless alphabet-soup "brands" all selling the same product from the same factory in Shenzhen.

I think this is the one I got for my fiancée a couple years ago: https://jysk.de/schlafzimmer/bettdecken/gewichtsdecken/gewichts-bettdecke-7-kg-gjendetu

I don't know if you have Jysk wherever you're from, but it seems decent quality. You can put a duvet cover on the blanket, so you can pick and choose whichever material you're most comfortable with.

Can't comment on how fair the production is - hadn't done that research back then. But at least it's not off Amazon

I balked at the price until I remembered German uses a comma as a decimal point.

Ah lol. 50€ seems to be pretty cheap compared to the average price of a weighted blanket. How much did your cost?

It was about 75 USD for a queen. It only covers the top of the mattress without draping over

I haven't heard mention of jysk in so long. When I was a kid my dad would drive us to pick up my mom from work and there was one in the neighboring lot. It was super middle of nowhere and I'll have to look up if its still around.
