I want to buy ticket to a game for my husband for Christmas. He is a fan of Miami Heat, but it’s not possible to go to Miami atm. So, I was hoping I could find a game in the northeast that is playing and hopefully it won’t disappoint him too much.

The concern I have is that I don’t know how the game works and I’m worried that if I buy tickets for a game in January, the teams might not make it to that game and it will get refunded.

Would it be dumb of me to buy tickets 2 months in advance? Also, would you as a nba fan still want to watch a game if it wasn’t your team playing?

Hi, you are very sweet. Don't feel bad because this is awkward for you, that makes it a nicer present in my view.

In January, the games are scheduled. It's not like the playoffs, which happen in the spring, where the opponents, dates, etc can be to-be-determined situations.

If the schedule says that the Knicks are playing the Heat on January 22 at Madison Square Garden, then the Knicks and Heat are playing that day at MSG. I recommend using an app called TickPick. Good luck and have fun!
