Asterisk on Denmark - the National team was amateurs only until 1971, up until then, as soon as you became a professional footballer, you were ineligible for the National team. It took a further ten years for professional football culture to properly take hold and dictate ambitions and training. A lot of our "all time" stats are affected by literally fielding a bunch of amateurs long after most other nations had gone full professional.
