Can a QB or any player be on their knees when the ball is snapped? (alien.top)

For example if a team was in victory formation and the qb took the snap on his knees, he would be down immediately. Thus preventing a fumbled snap.

Didn’t a kick returner lay flat in the end zone then stand up get the ball and make a decent return? Vikings I think?

Obviously different than a snap, but player starting the play down.
