I’m so tired of this narrative “system quarterback”. Literally just some buzz word to get views on ESPN.
The reality about players like Purdy, Hurts, and even Tua is the coaches calling plays that highly benefit the strengths of their quarterback. All 3 are vastly different schemed offenses that suit the play style of the quarterback that will put them in the best position for success. The best coaches of all time have and will always adapt their scheming to the benefit of their studs. This specifically is why Philadelphia’s offense fucking stomps teams, they know that when hurts gets hot with AJ brown that they can run the ball freely. Especially when there qb can just get a free 2-3 yards when needed. You don’t call a play like that when your qb is built like Mac Jones, mainly cause he is structured like 6 ply toilet paper. Everyone wonders why nobody can run the brotherly shove like the eagles but it’s so simple, there are literally no other quarterbacks that have the lower body strength like Hurts, if there are I want to know for research purposes. LOL. Ok rant over.
TLDR: Calling a quarterback a “system quarterback” is a buzzword bullshit excuse for a coach calling good plays that benefit their quarterback.
And then you have guys like Allen or Mahomes not having nearly their best seasons, due to surrounding talent/poor coaching, and you start to realize that hmm. Maybe everyone needs a good coach and guys to throw to 🤷♀️
Absolutely. Look at tua, gets tyreek and a genius behind the script and they start launching bombs, causing surrounding receivers to become better by association.
