I tried using the apple music preview on the microsoft store but when i checked the file type of the song it said 256kbps 44.1khz, when I know that on my phone its 24 bit 96khz

Just use another service. Too much red tape dealing with Apple on anything. 256kbps is a damn MP3. Not lossless. That file should be 10mb per minute roughly. Or they use similar tech like Tidal MQA to fold the file into smaller files. Probably don't want it used with Windows so no one can figure out its a scam like MQA.

i get apple music with my mobile contract so i'd rather not spend unnecessarily on another streaming service

Plus it's great on phones. Much better than Spotify.
