Man reading all these comments I’m really happy with the decisions I made and the life that I’ve lived so far. In my 40s now and have had successfully business, lots of fun, a great family and friends, lots of travel and adventures, and plenty of money. I can honestly say I wouldn’t change much outside of the obvious hindsight bias. I always chased the thing that was most exciting to me and never settled.
I’ve had a lot of shitty things happen to me as well but they’ve all been temporary setbacks and I’ve always bounced back better.
The only advice I would give my younger self would be to spend more time with my dad before he got cancer and passed away, but there’s no way I could have planned for that.
I'm reading this at 35 and having a fucking crisis. What the fuck have I done so far... what happened to my motivation and plans... you all seem to have your shit so together. When the fuck did I get so behind and so old. Fuck... like this is seriously fucking with me today...
Colonel sanders started after collecting social security. You can hustle until you drop dead. Sometimes people just peak at different times I’m 31 and finishing school because it’s always been a goal and I got my 2 year degree and then went to work and now I’m back to finish my undergraduate. I’ve met some great people along the way I’ve traveled to India for work. It’s strange being in school with a bunch of gen z children but I just remind myself that if it was easy everyone would do it. I want to get into sales after I graduate and like most of my life I’ve been a hands on skilled worker. Never taken seriously by management and people with degrees. Made good money despite not having a degree, but I’m doing this for me I have a GI bill to use I served 4 years in the navy so I could pay for college it’s would be a shame if I don’t capitalize on a degree I earned through life experience and get it ratified with a piece of paper! I will never fit in with those types but having both life experiences makes me confident that I can leave them in the dust, I’m just getting started! It’s important to be educated to cover all the bases with the smug employees who will shut you down. When you come at them with experience plus what they have they don’t stand on much. You can look them in the eyes and know they aren’t made of much.
