Considering the letter, Ilya's very quick apology that doesn't align with how he's being portrayed as an ego driven guy and how quickly Microsoft hired Sam and Greg, is it possible that Satya planned this whole thing from the beginning?

I doubt it. Since even before all this, people already considered OpenAI as part of Microsoft's orbit. That's why Microsoft stock took a hit on Friday when all this news hit.

Still, openai Ai wasn't completely microsoft's, I suspect the board will want to sell to Microsoft but even If It doesn't get there, Microsoft already has openai in terms of brains.
