I tried DOTA2 but don't like it.

I'd probably start playing HOTS again if they put it on Steam without Battlenet (OW2 doesn't open Battlenet on Steam).

I am playing Gigantic.

It's a good excuse to quit league, one less player is a win

Suggestion from an old Dota player: play better games. Mobas are just competitive stuff without artistic value.

I don't play competitive multiplayer anymore. Not enough time to keep skills sharp and there's so much more that I want to do.

I agree. Competitive games just bring the toxicity out of me. Plus, all the skill gained will become nothing one day with a balance patch just because the devs and publishers want to "keep the game live for longer"

Battle.net running in bottles works Ok. I did have an issue with battle.net running under X for a while, switching to Wayland worked. Whatever the problem was seems to have been fixed

battle.net works ok on lutris too, using the latest proton GE as runner

Iirc Smite turned off their EAC Linux Restriction awhile ago, might be worth looking into.

Haven't tested it at all though, so ymmv

Some people report issues https://www.protondb.com/app/386360 but Smite 2 is releasing next month. I assume it will work on Linux, so I plan to give it a go.

You can play HotS without Battle.net, you'll just have to input your credentials manually whenever you start the game. Alternatively, contrary to Steam, you can just kill Battle.net after it has updated and launched the game.

I'm on Insurgency.

Not the Sandstorm, the classical Insurgency

[–] oldfemboy@lemmy.ml 5 points 6 months ago

The gameplay. The controls. The item shop.
