Garter snake. Probably a common ribbon snake but it could also be a Northwestern garter or one of several similar garters.

So cute! I've only seen snakes out and about a few times and it's always such a treat. I'd love to find a way to make my yard more hospitable for them, but I'm sadly surrounded on all sides with neighbors who spray their lawns and keep them all super short.
