Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Video of the incident on Monday at Tarqumiya checkpoint, west of Hebron in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, showed settlers blocking the trucks and throwing boxes of much-needed supplies on the ground. Photographs from the scene showed piles of damaged aid packages and drifts of rice and flour across the road.

Late on Monday, photos began circulating on social media showing the trucks on fire.

'Outrage' aside, the actions of these religious fanatics that 'settle' on stolen lands is not at all new or surprising. They can be described as terrorists as much as any other group.

Trump repealed 50-year-old sanctions on Israel’s ability to settle occupied Palestinian Territories. Netanyahu was so grateful, he named a town after him.

Biden restored the sanctions, making the settlements illegal again.

Tongue popping at every few atrocities is nice and all but we're still waiting on proper sanctions. Grow a backbone, ask the college kids if you don't know how.

This is not the exception to the rule, it is the rule. You can't create a priviliged class society built on land theft and not have this be the result. Settlers have been doing this and worse to Palestinians for 60-70 years, I am glad that media is finally putting some critical lens on it. Brownshirt settlers do whatever they want and take whatever they want. If Palestinians show a hint of defiance or retaliation, the IDF comes in and slaughters them. Repeat the cycle ad infinitum.

US fingers are going to fall off from all this wagging.

[–] maynarkh@feddit.nl 22 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I know these are empty words for now, but is the US position on Palestine finally changing? I couldn't imagine even seeing this headline a few months ago.

[–] gmtom@lemmy.world 9 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Yes, the US is already halting offensive weapon shipments to Isreal.

[–] formergijoe@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago

Just that one shipment of bombs. Biden notified Congress he's going to send $1 billion in arms.

Haaretz 2017 Israeli Settlers Filmed Stealing Olive Harvest of West Bank Palestinian Farmers

[–] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 years ago

Better then the recent videos of them burning Olive trees.

They've been destroying and disrupting aid deliveries for some time. Even singing, chanting and dancing to the deed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AVXdIVq6qrU
What's a little death by famine, of even babies and children. They are simply doing God's work. I'm sure God will sort it all out.

[–] snownyte@kbin.social 16 points 2 years ago

What the fuck did you think they were going to do, White House?

Did you not get the memo that Israel said that they were going to carry on by themselves without you? It was right in the fucking open.

Dumbasses.

[–] HuddaBudda@kbin.social 15 points 2 years ago (1 children)

How is it that armed riflemen have time to harass Palestinians on the west bank, but not a one in sight to defend a food truck?

And with food prices the way they are, how do Isreali people have the free time to destroy food? Taxpayers in America work 2 jobs to for two boxes of that stuff.

[–] 800XL@lemmy.world 8 points 2 years ago

And their taxes go to fund those rifles. America wants their rifles back.

[–] PotatoesFall@discuss.tchncs.de 11 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Until US or IDF troops are directly accompanying and protecting these aid trucks, outrage is meaningless.

[–] FenrirIII@lemmy.world 7 points 2 years ago

The IDF would either help these 'settlers' or just stand aside.

[–] pastermil@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 years ago

Oh, you're "outraged" now?
