The assassin hit their mark, but nobody will suspect it because they were standing behind Trump.

Definitely not a major plot point of the movie Shooter starring Mark Wahlberg.

Why wouldn't they just tie explosives to their car or bed like a normal assassin? It seems strange to do it at such an event with so many bystanders and security present

Those things are dangerous to acquire and produce by oneself. Guns are convenient and safe.

As for strange, not really. Many assassinations have occurred this way. The key is the intended victim is out in the open.

Recent news reports are saying the shooter also had some explosives in his car and at his home

Trump can call himself lucky he wasn't in a school at the time of the shooting.

Click here to see the summaryThe attack, by a shooter who law enforcement officials say was then killed by the Secret Service, was the most serious attempt to assassinate a president or presidential candidate since Ronald Reagan was shot in 1981.

It comes amid a deeply polarized political atmosphere, just four months from the presidential elections and days before Trump is to be officially named the Republican nominee at his party’s convention.

The heavily armed tactical team travels everywhere with the president and major party nominees and is meant to confront any active threats while other agents focus on safeguarding and evacuating the person at the center of protection.

Law enforcement recovered an AR-style rifle at the scene, according to a third person familiar with the matter who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the ongoing investigation.

“Everybody went to their knees or their prone position, because we all knew, everyone becoming aware of the fact this was gunfire,” said Dave McCormick, the Republican candidate for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania, who was sitting to Trump’s right on stage.

Two firefighters from nearby Steubenville, Ohio, who were at the rally told the AP that they helped people who appeared injured and heard bullets hitting broadcast speakers.

What you saw were Hollywood style special effects. Had this been a real shooting you would never see trump again, the security team would have been shielding him. They would not have let him have a photo op. Please tell me you are not this stupid.....

So the person in the stands that died protecting their family... That's special effects?

How about the other 2 that are in the hospital? That's special effects?

Please tell me you're not that stupid.
