Too bad this election won’t hinge on any actual issues whatsoever

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 39 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Consumers getting ripped off by credit card companies is an issue, and if Democrats are smart, they'll be making a big deal out of this. I doubt they're that smart unfortunately.

Never underestimate an establishment Democrat's ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory

[–] NOT_RICK@lemmy.world 8 points 3 months ago (1 children)

See: not doing an actual primary and then being all surprised when they realize running an 82 year old candidate is a liability

[–] PM_Your_Nudes_Please@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago

I mean, there are historical roots for why the dems don’t run primaries against an incumbent. The last time they did, we ended up with Reagan winning in a landslide. Not defending Biden as a candidate, but there’s definitely a reason why the dems don’t run against a sitting president.

I think their point is that reading and being informed isn't exactly driving the right atm

Is rip better or worse than slam?

[–] NOT_RICK@lemmy.world 20 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Man, I gotta brush up on my jounalisms

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago

Just make up some poll results and write the headline to be as damaging as possible to Democrats. Done and done.

[–] sxan@midwest.social 9 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Rip is worse than slice, which is worse than slam. Slam is worse than slap.

I'm waiting for the ultimate, inevitable title that uses "curbstomp." Then we've reached peak hyperbole.

[–] TachyonTele@lemm.ee 3 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (2 children)

I would actually respect curbstomp if they had the guts to use it lol.

But at that point you would know everything is lost.

[–] toomanypancakes@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago

All is lost when we see "Politician Hulk Smashes Other Politician Over Topic (sponsored by Marvel)"

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world -2 points 3 months ago

Everything is lost. 2016 happened and nothing changed.

[–] riplin@lemm.ee 2 points 3 months ago

I think blast is appropriate in this case.

[–] Delusional@lemmy.world 18 points 3 months ago

Republicans siding with corporations screwing over everyone in America? That shouldn't be news to anyone. It's their entire platform.
