I think of that show as softening Americans views of torture during wartime.

You're not wrong. There was a lot of talk about that during the airing of the show. The show creator was a big Bush supporter so I'm not surprised by his depiction.
There have even been actual studies done that show that entertainment media depicting torture as positive increase viewers stated support of torture.
But wasn't the point of that that it was happening "in real time"? Basically, a one-hour episode represented approximately one hour and had 24 episodes per season.
Is the movie going to last 24 hours? What exactly is the point of this? Am I the only one who thinks this sounds stupid no matter how I put it?
Nope, I can't figure out how it is going to work either. Perhaps the simplest answer is: it won't.
Also, it's been 14 years since the series ended. Instead of cheaply trying to use the show's name to bring back some of the original audience, please just create something original instead and let it die.
Maybe theyβll call the film 2?
