Tunic. The 'language', puzzles and adventure of exploring hit so right for me. It finally go me "over" zelda games. Now I crave so much more like Tunic.
It's hard to pick.
Pokemon Crystal, New Vegas, Borderlands 2, Final Fantasy 6, Sonic and Knuckles, Grim Dawn, The Sims 3, No More Heroes 2, Okami, Metal Gear Solid(hell, the whole series is up there for me), Kingdom Hearts.
Pokémon Crystal was the first game I bought myself! And the color with it. Lovely game. It spoiled me for the future, I thought all games would let me pick girl or boy!
Don't know if I'd have one I'd call a favorite, but some I still hold dearly years after having completed them are Starbound, Ultimate Ninja 5, Dissidia 012, the first Devil May Cry, and Va-11 Hall-A.
Starbound due to its execution of sandboxing. Ultimate Ninja 5 and Dissidia 012 for how sharp their combats feel, despite being very fast-paced arena fighters without being musou or hack and slashes. DMC 1 for showing a genre of horror that didn't require jumpscares to feel oppressive and tense (reminds me I should play Resident Evil at some point, since DMC was a recycled RE project). And Va-11 Hall-A for showing I may have had several biases towards certain game genres (hated visual novels back then), and got me to change my mentality to "first I'll try a given game out, whichever it may be, then decide if I like it or not".
As of now, despite not playing it much, Brok the Investigator. The game, according to the trailer, takes place in a polluted world where animals replace humans. Tiny spoiler you learn in chapter 1, but the rich, drummers, live under a dome and have tons of resources and bots to aid them and the poor, slummers, live in squalor outside the dome.
You play as Brok, an alligator (crocodile?) who lives in an apartment in the slums with his cat son Graff. The game has some pretty good accessibility features, from what I've heard (haven't used the vast majority of them since I don't need them). It has some easy enough puzzles that are found in different chapters. Has some basic combat in the game that can be skipped by choosing the easiest difficulty, if I remember correctly.
The story spans 6 endings affected by how you play and the choices you make. Apparently there is a true ending after getting all the endings, but the first ending I got is what I personally consider the "true" ending. All characters that speak are fully voiced acted in English. The game has translations for all text in a ton of different languages. There is a small array of different characters with unique personalities. It even has a co-op mode in case you really feel like playing with a friend for some reason, like struggling in fights.
Over the summer I ordered a thing from Cowcat Games, the people behind the game, that comes with the game on disk and USB, a poster of the kinda hub world map thing, a couple post cards, and an art book. Also got a soundtrack CD and a plushie of both of the main characters. Definitely a game I have fallen in love with, in case you couldn't tell. I'm waiting for the financial aid office at the community college I go to to get me processed so I can at some point get a frame for the poster so I can display it somewhere in my room.
I don't know when it'll be done yet, but they're working on a DLC for the game that is focused on the combat system. I'm definitely picking it up when it drops (or whenever I notice). They also just recently got more than enough money on Kickstarter to fund a comic, set before the events of the game. I funded it just so I could get a physical copy sent to me, while also getting a digital copy. I got some generic desktop/laptop backgrounds as well, one of which I'm currently using on my laptop. Needless to say, I'd consider that a well spent~$14USD. Comic apparently gonna be finished by December 2025 and I cannot wait! Definitely gonna do something I've never done before and get a comis book sleeve for the physical copy.
Fatal Frame 3, Nier Automata, Portal, Ghost of Tsushima, and Kunitsu-Gami apperently.
Classic Tomb Raider, The Sims 2, Crazy Taxi, The House of The Dead 2, Sonic & SEGA All-Star Racing, Doom
Bosconian, specifically the version from the 2003 Namco Jakks Plug and Play, for nostalgia reasons.
I'd have to think but I like a bunch. Minecraft has always been there, FFXIV over the past few years, subnautica, rimworld is probably my most hours on steam now, homeworld (not 3 :( ), maybe dwarf fortress. factorio. There's a lot of other games but I think those are probably the most solid choices I have. Do I have to add dates? If so then I'll add them when I'm home
You can if you want, but I don’t require it.
New Vegas, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, GTA San Andreas, Wind Waker, Fallout 3, Dishonored
As a collector, there's too many good games for me to count, but some of my favorites are:
- All Mainline Mario Games
- Mario Kart DS
- Mario Kart Wii
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- All Classic Sonic Games
- Sonic Adventure (Haven't played 2 yet)
- Minecraft (Java/Legacy console versions)
- All Donkey Kong Country games (haven't played Tropical Freeze yet)
- Tetris
Do you play Sonic on a GameCube?
I ask because you do play a lot of Nintendo.
I play the Dreamcast version of SA
Nice. I beat the game once but reset my data to experience the story again: “Chaos is power, enriched by the heart” I think it goes.
I always wanted to play phantasy star online. I played a little of the DS version.
My favorite games are probably Kingdom hearts 358/2 days, PlanetSide 2, and super smash bros
Edit: whoops, meant to comment on the thread not the comment
That’s okay.
You probably mean Phantasy Star 0/ZERO/Ø.
I never really got into Kingdom Hearts or PlanetSide, but I guess I still play SSBU even though I don’t primarily play the Switch.
So much nonsense, overpowered characters, too many items and Pokemon, anime characters, legacy characters, fighting game characters from mature games, characters from other mature games, classic characters being graphically violent, and the whole game is meant to be a competitive esport for kids.
The Nintendo 64 game is the lightest one.
Melee has more Nintendo characters but also has Giga Bowser, esports, and seems rabid.
I sold my 3DS Smash 4 game out of anger too.
Smash seems like it’s rabidly popular in general and yet it frustrates a lot of players.
I just play as an adult just to have it to play but I would rathe just play casually than toxically.
I love smash on my 3ds. Honestly I still play my 3ds a bunch. I really wish it had a campaign like brawl did.
Ye phantasy star 0 is the one I tried out. I really wanna try the one that was for the GameCube.
PlanetSide 2 is way past it's prime and it's a damn shame. I remember having full Platoons and having the craziest moments happen. Shit was so much fun and I really think there will never be a game like it again
What about PSO for the Dreamcast?
I'd say Modded Minecraft, Factorio, Céleste and one I can't advertise because it's NSFW.
