What, did she just wake up from a year long nap?

[–] EmpireInDecay@lemmy.ml -2 points 2 hours ago

Where has she been this last year?

Why could she speak up sooner?

[–] Zaktor@sopuli.xyz 48 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 10 hours ago)

She did. She was calling for ceasefires within the first month and seven months ago was the first senator to call it a genocide and calling for an arms embargo.

It would have been too practical. Now Biden is a lame duck and were past the point of no return. Its the perfect time to publicly stake out a fanciful position.

Seems like her position has been relatively the same since the start of the conflict, but do go off

So, let's see what centrists call critics of the Bidenyahu genocide now that they can't call them trumpers.

Because it's not like centrists will ever abandon their support for genocide.

[–] Varyk@sh.itjust.works 3 points 8 hours ago (2 children)

no crows will land on you, straw man.

[–] thefartographer@lemm.ee 1 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Caw! Caw!

Oh sorry, I meant "Caca! Their argument is caca!"

[–] Varyk@sh.itjust.works 1 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago)

ha, truth. they sound nuts

you'll probably notice that every person arguing against "centrists" as if they aren't centrist is very proud of their refusal to provide evidence for their arguments or read any articles refuting their mistakes.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 4 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Netanyahu is committing genocide and we are wrong to sell him weapons. Centrists will never admit this because it means that the only policy they won't abandon at the first hint of pressure is not only morally reprehensible, but also politically unpopular.

If any centrist wants to admit that supporting genocide was a mistake, I'd love to hear it. For the first time.

[–] Varyk@sh.itjust.works -2 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

"Centrists will never admit this..."

centrists, and most people now, agree with both of those things, what are you talking about?

you have a non-argument.

you're trying to rile up anger by safely condemning the imaginary offenses of a vague minority that you likely belong to.

"If any centrist wants to admit that supporting genocide"

centrists don't support genocide, and if you think otherwise then you clearly don't know anything about what's happening in Palestine or in your own country.

"For the first time."

you got to read some books. articles, watch an interview or two.

If you are unaware of what's happening and what people are saying, that is your fault, not some vague political minority that you're ascribing your insecurities and ignorance to.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 2 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Selling weapons for an ongoing genocide is support. Just because you like it, that doesn't mean it's not support.

[–] Varyk@sh.itjust.works -4 points 8 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago) (1 children)

"Just because you like it, that doesn't mean it's not support."

who told you that liking things means you don't support those things?

your runarounds are bonkers and inaccurate.

slow down and organize your thoughts, they don't make no sense.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 2 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

You'll pretend to have no reading comprehension skills before you will admit that supporting genocide is wrong.

[–] Varyk@sh.itjust.works -3 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago) (1 children)

you making mistakes and avoiding corrective information doesn't mean other people can't read.

you are wrong.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 4 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

I didn't say you can't read. I said you were pretending to be unable to read because otherwise, you might have to admit that genocide is wrong.

[–] Varyk@sh.itjust.works -4 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago) (1 children)

"I didn't say you can't read"

cool, nobody said you did.

"you might have to admit that genocide is wrong."

If you don't think genocide is wrong, that is your issue, don't blame it on some vague "other" that you don't understand or agree with.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 4 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

If you don’t think genocide is wrong, that is your issue

I have been saying all along that genocide is wrong. Go back up to the top of the thread and read. No, I guess that's too much to ask. Here:

Netanyahu is committing genocide and we are wrong to sell him weapons.

Now pretend not to understand that.

[–] Varyk@sh.itjust.works -3 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago) (2 children)

"Netanyahu is committing genocide and we are wrong to sell him weapons."

I've already responded to that in the first comments, which part are you confused about?

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 3 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

The part where you pretended that this was the opposite of my opinion. At this point, I'm certain you're just gaslighting because you don't want to admit that the genocide you support is wrong.

[–] Varyk@sh.itjust.works -1 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago) (1 children)

again, if you support genocide, that is your own problem, don't project your violent and strange prejudices. onto others.

blaming other people for your own anxieties is an ineffective coping mechanism.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world -1 points 2 hours ago (1 children)
[–] Varyk@sh.itjust.works -1 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago)

you sound so weak because your straw men are based on demonstrably false assumptions.

[–] _cryptagion@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

The reason your replies are getting downvoted, is that everything you say comes across as a a very stupid person trying their best to sound very smart, and instead winding up looking like a clown. I would say quit while you’re ahead, but you haven’t been ahead at all yet.

[–] Varyk@sh.itjust.works -1 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago)

Your implied confirmation that an uninformed mob as moral arbiter could not be more timely.

enjoy that bandwagon; people downvoting uncomfortable truths doesn't make them any less true.

[–] gibmiser@lemmy.world -2 points 13 hours ago (2 children)

Opportunistic vulture gonna try to tie herself to bernie.

[–] Zaktor@sopuli.xyz 29 points 10 hours ago

Warren called it a genocide before Bernie did.
