You know what. Fuck it we ball.

It's the rich people's responsibility to fix the planet now. If you're not a rich person do whatever the fuck you want to do.

Start Forest fires. Piss on the Mona lisa. It does not fucking matter anymore and it hasn't for a long time.

But how can this be, when all the world leaders got together and decided to ? And then all the corporations made sure that ? Surely the plan to was enough to slow climate change!

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 1 points 13 minutes ago

Its not that we tried nothing and are all out of ideas. It just that we didn't try to think of any solutions. We didn't make any attempts. And we let the corporations get away with anything for profit. We prioritized our buying hot pockets and killing off the planet to make sure some rich CEO can buy his 14th jet, and another rich asshole dports team owner can build a new stadium every year by charging the tax payers who may never even watch sports.

This is the result.

I TRIED telling you guys, we need to form a mob, and chop off these assholes heads. But it got treated as a joke, like "ha ha, right! Could you imagine??? Ha ha ha"

Yes. I CAN imagine. Are you laughing now?

Looks like we are great at something: burning oil.

Since non-climate scientist like me are so dumb, I think using 1.5C, even if it is not going to be achievable, to reiterate the point we have to stop emissions ASAP or else these once-in-500-years droughts and floods will only keep happening and keep getting worse.

Setting a hard limit (true or not) may have hurt more than helped. It introduces the "well, we're not there yet so have some time to act". When the news starts using 2.0 as a new limit, everyone will sigh in relief because we have more time to continue. Except we never did have that time.

[–] Rentlar@lemmy.ca 5 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

That makes sense. That's why we have to keep it at 1.5C even if it's foregone, and 2.0C is very close to foregone if not already.

3.1 degrees if we don’t act.
