I didn't mean it in the way that he would go there, the point was just that RSO is also a former club not mentioned in the article (and contract?) like SD Eibar

Unless Real has a stroke, it's a no brainer for them.

[–] prettybunbun@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Unless Zidane.

You should know by now that Madrid players respond well to respected (club) legends, and not to professor type coaches who have never won anything substantial.

[–] InbredLegoExpress@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

current team is completely altered from the generation that this was said about. They may respond to a coach like Nagelsmann just as anyone would.

[–] Alternate_Chinmay7@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Fucking hell. We are rotating Carlo and Zizou since 2013 like there's no other manager. I love Zizou and would love to have him back but it'd be a nice change if we get someone else.

[–] toroMaximo@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

He has yet to coach a full season and still drastically improved a struggling Leverkusen side. If that ain't worth the hype, what is?

[–] WildeGooner@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Arsenal v Real Madrid next year will be battle of the immaculate hairlines

[–] KimngGnmik@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

They will leave together, walking into the sunset holding hands

[–] Nordie27@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Alonso is good but he is no Imanol! I really don't think La Real would change him for any coach in the world

[–] Accurate_Algae8486@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

What about Eibar?

[–] Liverlakefc@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I doubt he will become manager of liverpool next summer

[–] KimngGnmik@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I don't think you guys have it in you to sack him. And that's understandable. So Klopp is Liverpool manager until he decides he no longer is

[–] tensed_wolfie@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (3 children)

You don’t sack managers like Klopp or Pep, they sack you

[–] Edi1896@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Didn't everyone think the same about Arsene Wenger?

[–] RiverGyoll@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

He was sacked after years of mediocrity, not a bad run or even a season.

[–] Marloneious@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (3 children)

Years of mediocrity, falling out with sections of the fans for extended periods of time, poor transfers, lack of CL, stagnating methods and staff appointments, couldn’t win a game away from home…it was time to go sadly.

[–] TinyMaintenance@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (3 children)

Yeah, you really went forward when you sacked him.

[–] G0ncalo@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Lmao yeah, Wenger at least got top 4 every season. It took Arsenal almost a decade to find their form again.

Did I say we went forward or did I just list some of the reasons why he left (because he wasn’t sacked).

[–] Streef_@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

In fairness you did you forward, but it just took a little bit to build up a new dynasty. Not exactly Man U type shit lol

They were only struggling because their former coach was proper garbage. Definitely not a bad job Xabi Alonso is doing, but the hype is too much imo.

[–] Euriti@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Solskjaer's initial few months at United was very good right until it wasn't.

Didn't he just retire. I won't know for sure. I'd rather call it retirement ?

He went on to work for FIFA on football policies, but as far as coaching is concerned he’s basically retired (not officially but he’s 73 and seems to be enjoying his life so I think coming back out to coach isn’t on his agenda).

Korean and Japanese commentators nightmare

[–] madsauce178@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

We only had one good attacker. Vinicius became a great player when he left. Would not call it a massive failure. He won a league title.

[–] CarlSK777@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Their improvement last season was due to many factors, not just Alonso. I think he'll be a good one but let's just chill. He hasn't proven much yet.

[–] fullmetal_geek@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

This. Bayer had a decent squad for a while now. If anything they had underperformed previous years.
