Hope they bring in the lawyers tbh. Only way to get something done

[–] TurboThot69@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

They didn’t draw the lines when Arsenal drew Brentford last season either. It’s time for VAR real-time transparency.

Meaningful change should have happened last season after Skipp was left bleeding on the pitch due to a high boot by Jota (who later went on to score the winner in that match). Klopp's reaction? Telling Ryan Mason to worry about something else rather than a missed call that helped undermine the sporting integrity.

introduce challenge system or have both team provide a representative to be present in the VAR room

[–] RoughVegetable3626@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Amount of tribalism in here is insane…every team in the PL should be joining this effort because clearly something is rotten in the PGMOL and it isn’t getting better. In fact I would argue every season since the implementation of VAR the standard has decreased despite the addition of technology that in theory should improve the standard of reffing. I say this as a ‘Pool fan but it seems every matchweek there is some VAR drama that results in some bs “apology” yet no action is taken. Take the piss out of Liverpool sure but at least our club is finally saying enough is enough.

[–] theglasscase@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Not that Liverpool should just sit on their hands and say 'Well they said oops, our bad, so big deal', but I don't know what avenues they think there are to pursue. They're not going to get a replay or points awarded to them, unless their goal is to force changes to transparency from officials regarding VAR decisions, I don't know what else they think they're going to get.

[–] ben-hur-hur@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Any other job you would've been fired for such a monumental fuck up like this smh

[–] _ratty@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The extent Liverpool is milking this is embarrassing. Yes this specific example is blatantly wrong but plenty of other teams have dropped points due to VAR.

But now that it's Klopp that's on the end of it we are never going to hear the end of it.

(Both the reds were valid as well btw).

Don't bother replying to me pool fans I'm notgoing to read it.

[–] 3V3RT0N@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Liverpool fans really are the Trump supporters of the football world. Everyone is out to get them, everything is a grand conspiracy...

[–] izmebtw@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Brighton are gonna have a tough game on their hands. Those refs are gonna be nice as hell to Liverpool.

[–] skaterboi33@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

You would think losing to a small trophy less club like Tottenham would literally mean nothing….Unless…

No problem with the statements. More clubs should do this. Also glad to see they focused on the blatant error and not the controversial red cards that Jota and Jones received

[–] HarryKaneismyJesus@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Is it Unacceptable this has happened? Yes completely, but lets not kid ourselves here, Liverpool as well as the other top clubs have had the rub off of the officiating referees these past years and VAR has smaller teams plenty of points as well. One team was relegated because goal line technology failed during a match. If they want the sue the refs etc up to them, but Spurs have no right to suffer any consequences due to poor officiating.Sort the system out but you need to take this one in the chin.

[–] sbsw66@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Thankfully those in the VAR room had a successful audition for the UAE League earlier in the week so they'll be OK even if they get fired in England

[–] GhostRiders@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Danny Murphy has said multiple times over the few months that they need to get ex-professional players into the VAR booths and I 100% agree.

We would see a significant reduction of ridiculous decisions being made.

Decision where we hear ex-professionals with thousands of games between agree the refs got it wrong...

Jones straight red is an example of this.

I've yet to hear any ex-professional player say this was straight red.

Unfortunately it is never going ro happen because the PGMOL will never let in outsiders in as it will show how bad they have become.

[–] pjanic_at__the_isco@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

TLDR: we’re crying so hard now.

[–] oranjemania@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

VAR inserts human judgment where none is needed.

Offsides can be determined by sensor technology: Each player could be tagged for location, if the rules were to require comparison of, say, foot positions alone. Sensors in ball and boots could leave VAR "human error" behind: no lines to "interpret"; no worry for angles. It works for goal line tech. Should be doable for offsides.

[–] JeffBroccoli@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

At this point, what’s the real point in continuing with VAR at all? Before it’s inclusion in the game, we could yell at the screen, point at the replays and complain that your team got short-changed because an official made a mistake. Now, WITH VAR we’re doing the exact same thing, but with more stoppages

[–] msmavisming@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Jeez. Get a grip.

[–] Ilovellamasandcows@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This is genuinely embarrassing

[–] Lyoninyo@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

oh they are angry

[–] Maula-Mere-Maula@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

i just wonder if there would have been this much discussion if say chelsea or city faced what liverpool faced.

i think PL wouldnt care much and people would be completely okay and actively laughing if those teams lost.

[–] noobchee@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Great statement, bring the fire gents

[–] gov55@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Holy shit Liverpool are embarrassing hahahahaha

[–] 963479@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Good statement but don’t be surprised at all the “harsh” and “suspicious” decisions Liverpool now cop. The PGMOL boys club will make sure every debatable call goes against them now

[–] Far_Eye6555@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

What’s the solution that Liverpool is looking for? Competent reffing? Get real!

[–] TheUbermelon@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This will be interesting to see what avenues they can actually explore. Because 'sorry' doesn't give Liverpool anything. They lost 3 points. It is like someone apologising for shitting on your car. Like ok Darren but the shit is still there and you haven't offered to clean it up.

[–] doubleoeck1234@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

So why when i posted this was it deleted for having a vague title even though it was the exact same and was posted 10 minutes earlier?

[–] aleksandrovsqvist@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

How many more “significant human errors”? You should take your time to come to a concrete decision, that’s why VAR is there. Leagues can be lost due to these decisions

[–] Stukya@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Im guessing the PGMOL didn't hand over the audio and studio camera recordings like LFC wanted.

EDIT:

That such failings have already been categorised as “significant human error” is also unacceptable.

LFC are saying its BS that you have released an excuse before you have conducted an investigation.

[–] sinesnsnares@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I think this is the most I’ve ever been behind a rival club. Please escalate this as much as you can, until they get rid of all of that corrupt old boys club 🙏

[–] JiveTurkey688@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Fair play, a very strong statement. Unacceptable doesn't even begin to describe messing up a decision that straightforward.

[–] ReddittIsDead@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

As a Chelsea fan, I am still pissed Mike Dean knowingly allowed a bad call to stand because correcting his dear friend Anthony Taylor who was the referee was not something he wanted to do. MF admitted this. So I am all with Liverpool in taking this incompetent and corrupt referring out to the cleaners. Fuck Taylor and fuck Mike Dean.

[–] Not_tlong@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Wolves been getting fucked over for years, and nothing. All of a sudden it hits Liverpool and serious changes need to be made? Ok pals…

[–] FanofWhiskey@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

for fucks sake.

Everyone is acting like is akin to genocide.

LFC is not the first club nor the last club that will get fucked by VAR.

Move on.

[–] NewHabitsWhoDis@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This could be a win for all PL clubs

[–] dannylfcxox@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This is just gonna piss the refs off even more resulting us getting even less decisions lol. Although watching that spurs game and the Newcastle one where joelinton was given free reign to commit as many fouls as he wanted I'm not sure that's possible.

[–] OrganicWhine@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

all teams should support this.

[–] SJM_93@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Hoping other clubs get behind us on this, PGMOL boys club are ruining our sport.

[–] Hosierman@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It baffles me the amount of people in this thread with comments like 'just beacause it's liverpool' 'cry babies' and 'every team gets fucked over by refereeing decisions'

The officiating in that game was awful all round, the officiating in most games is horrific, no team should lose or gain advantage caused by incompetent referees. This is not about Spurs it's about the referees constantly fucking up and just apologising afterwards like it makes it okay. I'm assuming Brentford will get an apology call from Webb tonight too.

Every team and supporter should be behind Liverpool on this.

[–] TheNotoriousJN@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

They're escalating. Nice. Proper fighting words.

Im sure it'll come to nothing but more egregious bustups with the refs. But im glad we arent just meekly accepting it

[–] KiwiLiverpool@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Take them to court, so ridiculous that an error like that can take place in the highest professional football league in the world.

[–] WPackN2@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

So the PL referee union has chosen Spurs as their team for the season.

[–] ClownSpotting@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Why are rival fans complaining as if asking for transparency and reviews after massive mistakes isn't something the league as a whole would benefit from? Baffling how there's smug spurs fans in here when it has about 50% chance to happen to them next week given the standard of VAR/refereeing in the league

[–] Moreaccurateway@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This is ridiculous. They made a bad mistake. It’s happened since the beginning of the game.

What do Liverpool expect is even going to happen?

[–] KornFan86@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I remember the good old days before VAR where there were no significant human errors!

Jesze it's like everyone has never seen an incorrect call before, look its a doozy, but also... come on... there are dubious calls in every game forever, discretion, time, lack of vision... are you protesting the fact that there will always be a potential for human error, so protesting the fact that we are human and can make errors? or are all the people complaining on here perfect little robots that have never made a wee boo-boo.

Grow up, the lot of ya.

[–] Stukya@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The whole point of football is to score a goal.

If a perfectly good goal isnt allowed then something is very wrong and not fit for purpose.

[–] friendlyfernando@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Yay maybe this will finally be the start of the EPL doing something about its disgraceful refereeing
