###Liverpool Football Club acknowledges PGMOL’s admission of their failures last night. It is clear that the correct application of the laws of the game did not occur, resulting in sporting integrity being undermined.
We fully accept the pressures that match officials work under but these pressures are supposed to be alleviated, not exacerbated, by the existence and implementation of VAR.
It is therefore unsatisfactory that sufficient time was not afforded to allow the correct decision to be made and that there was no subsequent intervention.
That such failings have already been categorised as “significant human error” is also unacceptable. Any and all outcomes should be established only by the review and with full transparency.
This is vital for the reliability of future decision-making as it applies to all clubs with learnings being used to make improvements to processes in order to ensure this kind of situation cannot occur again.
In the meantime, we will explore the range of options available, given the clear need for escalation and resolution.
Genuinely is there a single club happy with the refereeing this season? Never seen it this bad
I guess they are going to take action now. Wolves should also stake a claim from their match against Man United, as should Brentford with the penalty claim.
The technology is there to help make the correct decisions, it’s the incompetence and dare I say arrogance of referees that are affecting sporting results.
These points could have affected a team’s relegation survival chances, or even European and title chances. That’s a massive deal.
There needs to be proper accountability and transparency from the referees and until we see that, there will continue to be this lackadaisical approach.
Also, I don’t condone violence and abuse to referees, but they need to know that there’s a difference to criticism and verbal abuse. Referees are human beings too so I believe that opening the barrier of communication, transparency and cooperation will lead to lower abuse and disrespect towards them.
Now this is my kind of statement.
Fingers crossed every club rallies behind this. We really can't let it continue like this.
fuck me you can tell it’s liverpool
Man city and pep is all over. It is clear the UAE is paying refs to be biased at least at best to work on their interests.
