Tbf I had a Millwall season ticket for 5 yeaes and never heard anything of this sort. Of course there are a minority of bad eggs but many Millwall fans are descended.from.zirish migrants.

Game's gone

Is it bad I laughed at this? Serious question. It was just the absurdity of it.

[–] chuwolhada@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I did too, ignore the flair.

Because they aren’t saying them for any other reason than bigotry and hating Irish catholics.

Like I’m not religious and don’t go to mass but I was born catholic and a certain segment of the population only cares about that last part.

And saying fuck the IRA is a wee bit hypocritical when most people who say it are flag shaggers who worship the army.

Whereas Celtic fans chants are full of enlightened bonhomie. Ha ha

While Celtic are wall to wall Palestine flags even now

[–] Demmandred@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Have no love for the army, fuck the IRA they bombed my home.

[–] heresyourhardware@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Chanting it at a guy who has nothing to do with either because he is Irish?

[–] GroundbreakingCow775@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Surely they could have just sung about the crayon on his arms

[–] fostereddonkey@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Family club

As a catholic, f the Pope. Couldn't care less about the RA though (they make catchy songs).

[–] jasonketterer@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Those are hardly controversial stances.

[–] calewis10@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Glad you said it. I mean a terrorist organisation and the public face of the world’s biggest investment vehicle who dabble in child abuse. Hardly paragons of virtue are they.

[–] Ikhlas37@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Probably more it was directed at one person?

[–] dylang01@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I think the Pope can handle it

[–] Scumbag__@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

The thing is they weren’t casually chanted, they were chanted to abuse McClean.

[–] FootCheeseParmesan@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Bottom of this thread really is a lesson in 'Introduction to sectarian football for the English'.

Also when did Millwall become Rangers?

[–] Dinin53@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

A lot of the people chanting were kids. I'm sure the Pope would've been thrilled.

Not free from consequences

What a club

[–] GME_alt_Center@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Is there a chart for what chant topics are allowed and not? I know of racist and homophobic not being allowed. But this one?

[–] thefrightfulhog@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

This is racist chanting

[–] 2RINITY@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

The Brits are at it again, I see

[–] 1874WL@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Its quite quaint seeing people upset about this. I hear that exactly phrase constantly

[–] PengwinOnShroom@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Wouldn't have thought to see the pope and IRA together in a sentence

[–] Crossx1993@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

are chants like usually panished? cause i heard other clubs chant things like this and nothing happen

[–] BoosterGoldGL@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I imagine it’s the pope bit rather than the IRA bit

[–] ball0fsnow@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

When you step into the millwall ground you go through a space time portal that transports you back to 1987. It is truly a marvel

[–] Veejp123@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Disdain for religion. Disdain for terrorism. What exactly is the problem

[–] heresyourhardware@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

McClean isn't involved in either, directed at him it is meant as abuse. Seeing opposition to it is like lads who can't see the problem with "all lives matter!".

[–] Jonisro@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

So,is the game gone or?...
