Those Saudi league goals should count as 0.5

40 goals in Saudi league gives you a throw-in in Europe.

[–] galaxysuperstar22@alien.top 2 points 2 years ago

yeah but thats in some 2nd division farmers league

[–] PM_ME_UR_CHERRIES@alien.top 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

My nephew has 63 goals within the last 13 months. Where is his article? Lol

good for him but 40 goals in the la liga is very different from 40 goals in the saudi league tbh

[–] insigi@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Piers Morgan is going to have an orgasm

[–] unrectify@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He's got ninety-nine whip lashes but a bitch ain't one

[–] TheGoldenPineapples@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (3 children)

Pretty embarrassing that he's only one ahead of Erling Haaland, despite playing in an objectively much worse league.

[–] staycoolwilson@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I don't think it's embarrassing

[–] philipstyrer@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

I'ts really not embarrassing at all considering his age. Must be incredibly embarrassing for players like Benzema, Neymar and Mane who are playing in the same league and getting outscored by Ronaldo. Messi is also playing in a much worse league.

[–] train4karenina@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I think anyone with any level of football knowledge would rather their team have Neymar than Ronaldo though.

For everyone shouting Saudi league Saudi league, he’s also joint top with Lukaku for most goals in Euro qualifiers. More than Mbappe, Haaland and Kane etc.

[–] MaleficentFalcon@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Stats in a league where the government controls half the clubs 💀

[–] saint-simon97@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

I'm not his biggest fan but he's obviously in good form at the moment.

[–] dhaeli@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Pretty sure there is a 12 year old somewhere that had scored dubble that.

[–] leoanonymous@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (9 children)

My mate has 47 goals in his Sunday league, why was there no post about that?

[–] Khanhspm@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (3 children)

IFFHS only counts goals at top senior level

All goals at top senior level are counted: top national leagues plus Paulista and Carioca (NL), national cups (NC), official international club tournaments (ICC), official games between national teams (NT).

[–] 3-0againstliverpool@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Wait, only Paulista and Carioca??? And not the other states leagues in Brazil?

[–] Time_Ad_893@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

provavelmente nao pq o nivel nao eh mt bom. eh meio tosco, pq o carioca tbm tem um nivel horrivel, similar ao gauchão por exemplo

Does your mate get paid to play football or he pays to play?

Racking up useless goals in a dead league to remain relevant and Madrid fans are out here acting like it's impressive at all, even made a post in the Madrid subreddit which had the most embarrassing comments I have read in a while.

Not too long ago were they making fun of Pele for scoring in his backyard and look at them hyping up this statpadder now

[–] tommycahil1995@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Literally playing in front of crowds smaller than National League games

There must be a formula that applies appropriate weights to the quality of the league and his age to make this very impressive.

He's going to have another meltdown over Ballon d'Or, isn't he?

His lickspittle fans desperately trying to pretend that saying 'He's scoring most of his goals in a second rate league' is 'hate' and not an objectively true statement are delightfully delusional.

It is impressive to still be so prolific at his age, but anyone ignoring the context to fawn over him is embarrassing themselves.

Amazing stat considering he's playing in the great Saudi League and International matches vs Liechestein and Luxembourg

[–] Disastrous-Basket-71@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I like how everyone in this sub waited for his worst low of his career to shit on this guy and forgot the years he did this in europe.

[–] ciesum@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Not the highest quality league but doing better there than anyone else

[–] AboveAvgDad@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Nah, pretty sure there’s a dude in the English 7th tier that bagged 50+ this year.

[–] 99PassingAway@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Impressive. Saudi and Luxemburg isn’t for everyone

[–] SignificantMaize7132@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (3 children)

This is pretty damn impressive. The man's longevity is insane.

Before all of you stop barking about this being in the Saudi league, even Benzema and Neymar aren't putting up these numbers, Benzema is the current Ballon d'Or holder and Neymar was the best PSG player (arguably) before his injury.

I don't see hate yet and quite a ways down the thread, but so many comments talking about hate, underappreciation, and talking about Messi.

[–] Legolastheking@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Lowlifes eh

[–] NaiveElk@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (7 children)

The reactions would be very much different if this was Messi in MLS

[–] WinsingtonIII@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Would it? This sub hates MLS and won't miss any opportunity to bash it.

[–] No_Bullfrog1926@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Why drag Messi? Ffs
