I watched an Explore With Us video recently where a guy super outspoken about hating paedos… unsurprisingly, raped kids.

Yeah, the end game was pretty fucking clear for those who were paying attention. Equate being LGBTQ+ with pedophilia, because pedophilia was obviously already unpopular. Then rally against pedophilia, and use the fervor to sweep up the LGBTQ’s.

To be clear, active pedophiles deserve all the scorn in the world. But lynch mobs aren’t exactly known for carefully examining known evidence and coming to an unbiased consensus on who is and isn’t guilty.

Also to consider are the non acting ones that want professional help but become terrified to open up about it.

Something that is under control is almost by definition not dangerous. And successful cases of this help persuade others to volunteer to get help themselves.

Yeah, that’s why I was careful to specify “active” pedophiles. Being a pedophile would be a fucking curse that I wouldn’t wish upon anyone, because you can’t just stop being attracted to someone. All you can do is choose whether or not to act on it.

I still wouldn’t want them around my kids, but at least an inactive pedophile deserves support to be able to get professional help. But even that strays very close to things like gay conversion therapy, which is pretty unanimously known by studies to be entirely ineffective and just plain harmful. At most, therapy would likely just focus on helping them come to terms with celibacy.

I'm not sure how I feel about this.

On one hand, I see how they set it up to troll people. But on the other hand... I don't like the ending statement. Ha

(Unless I missed something that goes against the rules of the community, the post stands to be judged by the people of the community.)
