Per 36 for rookies in preseason I’ve seen it all

[–] Ok_Respond7928@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I love when people post per 100s and than say compare this two players. True peak discussion

Per 36 preseason stats are extremely representative of how the season will go.

Jordan Goodwin ready to set an all time record with his 8.5 steals per 36

Performing during the regular season won’t be enough for Jamal Murray to prove himself, he’ll need to do it in the preseason now as well

Wemby avg around 83% last year last year ,if he can get to around 87-90 it gonna be crazy

If you're using per 36 numbers, its not ppg/rpg/apg etc. Its per 36, not per game.

[–] AtreusIsBack@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Would you want the abbreviation to say PP36?

[–] WestleyThe@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Just list out the stats and say “per 36” at the end

[–] RVAIsTheGreatest@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

What's amazing about these two is just how much they so clearly raise their team's ceilings already as rookies. They're impactful at a level you almost never see of a rookie. It's incredible.

Per36 died a decade ago. Useless stat. Still pumped for these guys, but come on.

I’m surprised Wemby doesn’t have a higher assist rate

[–] qaswexort@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The team has fumbled several highlight reel assists

Good I fucking hate people using per36 minute stats. They're completely useless. It's all extrapolation. Production on the basketball court is not linear.

[–] Rapper_Laugh@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

What? Do you know what extrapolation means? And what does “production on the basketball court is not linear” mean? Just that people score at different rates at different times in the game? Because umm yeah, that’s why we use averages over a larger sample, like per 36.

Per 36 stats are fine, and do a good job of telling you what a player’s impact looks like per minute they are on the floor. Just like per 100 possessions stats are good for telling you who averages the most points, rebounds, etc. each time up the floor. Nobody is saying they’re a be all end all stat, but they have their place.

What? Do you know what extrapolation means? And what does “production on the basketball court is not linear” mean?

Lmao. I guess you don't know what extrapolation is. Are these words too big for you or something?

So Chet scoreed 31.2 ppg, per 36? WTF does ppg mean in this context
