I know Espn 100 is wack. But I would rather let them vote for top 100 than these clown experts who think just because they played the game their opinion somehow weighs higher. Most of these former (especially veteran) players just keep on hating the European players and try to minimise their game by saying that the game has gone soft. Its just ridiculous they can't give them their flowers.

Kenyon Martin is a clown. At least Gilbert is funny sometimes

[–] SwiggySiggyDoc@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The problem is you was listenin to Gil and Kenyon

[–] 3percsMemphisMursic@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Two NBA Legends ? That’s a problem ?

[–] rpars18@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Legends? Nah. Good players? Yeah.

[–] 3percsMemphisMursic@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

It’s a whole rule made for Gilbert Arenas and Kenyon is one of the best forwards of the 10’s yall white I get it sheesh 😂😂😂😂😂

[–] rpars18@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Chill out I literally said they were both good players lmao

Out of curiosity though, what was the rule made for Arenas?

[–] epsilonxyz@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

The Arenas Rule says that If/when the home team is restricted in the amount of salary they can offer, that amount of salary can't be exceeded in year 1 by any competing offer. This way, no matter what happens, the home team can afford (at least in the short term) to retain their player

[–] Ok_Respond7928@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Bro Keyon Martins prime was in the 2000’s what are you talking about one of the best forwards of the 2010’s.

[–] cavaleir@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Great players with terrible opinions. Just like MJ was a great player who was a terrible owner.

[–] drjisftw@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I think from a marketability standpoint the NBA would like to have a domestic player that will appeal more to domestic fans. If we're being honest here, bonus points if they're white (we can't understate how huge Larry Bird was in the 80's).

I think the league was tapping Ja for that role, but after the gun shit that's off the table. Ant could maybe take that role but the homophobic slurs certainly isn't a good start.

Luka is an unathletic fat turd

[–] 3percsMemphisMursic@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Facts 😂😂💯 that turd get buckets tho ngl 🔥

[–] JayneVeidt@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Ah, Suns fan:D

[–] Enough_Lakers@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Who made Booker look like a bitch and that's why you're salty as fuck.

[–] BigDaddyJuno@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Kyrie is arguably better than Luka. It depends what you value. He is way more skilled and talented pound for pound

[–] psychedelic93@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Who plays better 5 on 5 basketball. This ain't boxing.

[–] 3percsMemphisMursic@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Kyrie does and that’s why he has a ring and Luka does not

[–] cavaleir@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Lol you don't think playing with LeBron has anything to do with that?

[–] herseyhawkins33@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Way more skilled? That's straight up fiction LOL... And if we're talking actually playing NBA basketball it's clearly Luka

[–] FrnklndaTurtle@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Subjectivity.

[–] dash_44@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It’s not tho…count the superstars

[–] psychedelic93@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I mean they are coming. Wemby is next. There are many a notch below them Gobert, Lauri, Sabonis. In 10 years time, there will be plenty.

[–] dash_44@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Ok so not right now, you’re speculating?

[–] RspectMyAuthoritah@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The last 5 MVPs are European.

[–] dash_44@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)
[–] RspectMyAuthoritah@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

He is a French citizen but I guess I should have said foreign players

[–] Plastic_Parfait8116@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I like Gilbert’s show but he’s in the Stephen A sensationalism entertainment category not the JJ Reddick chilled basketball chat category.

If you watch the show regularly you’ll see Gil always chooses kinda outlandish takes to promote arguments and then he’ll defend his position by yelling over people, laughing loudly, asking dumb rhetorical questions etc.

I think it’s a good show but it’s pretty clear he’s going for entertainment not sober analysis.

[–] psychedelic93@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Actually Gil said production wise Luka but the room of idiots went silent so he joined in with them

[–] ColonelWKurtz@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

That word “ruled” you’re using is doing a lot of heavy lifting and you may just be like Gilbert Arenas yourself with your hyperbolic statement

[–] Mygaffer@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, that kind of debate style drives a lot of engagement as much as some fans hate it.

Don't hate the player, hate the game.

[–] DragoBrokeMe@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I haven't (and will not) listen but considering they must be debating vs Kyrie, if the last few years have shown is that the players have way higher regard for Kyrie than virtually everyone else. He can do things they can't in a way that few guys can. Sure, Luka is unquestionably better, but Kyrie can make certain plays that basically no one else can, and that resonates with NBA guys more than "stats" and "showing up to your team facility"

[–] psychedelic93@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I know Kyrie is probably the best one on one player. But the game is played 5 on 5 and tends to favour the longer and powerful player.

[–] Enough_Lakers@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Luka would stomp Kyrie in one on one though. Just a superior basketball player in almost every facet except for cool dribbles and sick layups.

[–] RVAIsTheGreatest@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (6 children)

Let's not beat around the bush. There is a racial element that exists. Just like the Perkins situation. We don't need to be shy about it. There are a lot of Black American ballers and individuals in general who don't love the fact Europeans, including Giannis, are kinda taking over the league to a degree and in the minds of some, feel are treated with a positive bias that they don't get. Those feelings are very legitimate, and it's exacerbated a bit by the majority of journalists being White and/or non-American. So they feel like there's a bias that's kinda going unspoken.

[–] psychedelic93@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Thank you Sir.

[–] Arooooooooooooooo@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Bias goes both ways. Harden got a lot more flack for his playstyle than Luka does. NBA media goes easy on the European guys.

[–] RVAIsTheGreatest@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I don't entirely disagree that NBA media goes easier on the Europeans but I think that's in part because the Europeans are easier to get along with. Although I do not the Harden vs Luka narrative differences. That flack was more fan driven though in Harden's direction.

[–] Milkboy1516@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

"Easier to get along with" is a new one lol

[–] Enough_Lakers@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Because Luka performs in the playoffs. If Harden elevated his game in big moments like Luka did no one would talk shit about him. Ridiculous.

[–] Arooooooooooooooo@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (4 children)

Luka didn’t even make the playoffs last year man.

Except European isn’t a race. I don’t how u think Giannis, Luka, Jokic, Wemby etc r the same race lol.

[–] Charming-Pie2113@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Its not but in mind of Gilbert Arenas it is

[–] Simple_Wait_7286@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

What you mentioned is not a racial matter, it’s called xenophobia. There’s a difference.

You listened to arenas. Thats where you went wrong. Theres only 2 rules one must follow in life

rule number 1: do not listen to gilbert arenas

rule number 2: follow rule number 1

[–] IntraspaceAlien@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Kyrie over Luka is insane but “ruled by European superstars” is also a bit much lol

[–] electricHats75@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Rule by European superstars is a stretch

[–] n0th1ng10@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Jokic being the best doesn’t mean that the nba is rules by euro stars bc he’s the only one.

[–] inshamblesx@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

denial is one hell of a drug

[–] Parenegade@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago
