I have a milestone birthday coming up and have just begun the recon mission on finding a piece that will complement, but not directly compete with anything I currently have. Not into overly dressy or rectangular watches. 39-43mm range under $10k. No Rolex, I've had a few and I didn't like the attention they got. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Sinn 3006 would fit the aesthetic

[–] obfuscatorio@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Bright pink G shock

[–] soulpapa-1025@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

IWC has some really nice watches very reasonably priced. I have and love my DaVince perpetual calendar it’s as close to perfection as it gets, in my opinion.

Something in stainless steel with a dark coloured dial.

[–] RealUltimatePapo@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

So dark that it looks black to most people anyway

People seem to be so afraid of colour. I don't understand it

For sure a G-Shock of some kind

Maybe add a Rolex?!

[–] droi86@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Your collection seems a bit similar to mine, I've just added a tudor black bay chrono, I'd go with that

[–] CFC-12_21@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I saw the S&G one earlier today actually. Good shout.

[–] bobbyphysics@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

How about a Panerai? It's got a unique look, but maybe not too far outside your comfort zone.

Maybe a Sinn? U50, 206 or 358 would make very nice additions. On the lower end of your budget, though.

Maybe Nomos and Glashütte Original might also float your boat, as these tend to be extremely under the radar and will only really be noticed by other enthusiasts.

A Girard Pergeaux Laureato would also fit if you buy gray.

Nice looking collection!

I think an IWC of some sort on a strap would add some depth to your collection. You don't have anything very similar to it.

Definitely has the size you're looking for.

Nice collection but all very similar in style and color at least to me. I like have some blue, green or salmon color with maybe gold tones and some brown leather bands on my watches.

[–] salsalion@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (3 children)

No Rolex, I've had a few and I didn't like the attention they got.

Would you mind expounding on that? I'm currently in the market for a sub but have been contemplating when/where I'd wear it based on me preferring people not notice it/call it out and get some weird image/perception so I'm interested in hearing your experience with it.

[–] whutchamacallit@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (5 children)

I don't own one but I've heard your friends with less wealth will give you shit for it and your friends with more wealth will say oh you got that reference? Why didn't you get _____, it's way more classy.

Kind of a lose lose. Whether that's true or not I don't know. Personally I want an old vintage oyster as they are only around $2k but it's what's held me back....

[–] Logical_Half_1135@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I suppose this is very much a case of your mileage may vary, but I have a Datejust 36 with a smooth bezel and have never received any type of comments one way or the other. Most people don’t even notice it.

[–] Jerseybz@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I personally don't give a shit what other people think about my watch. I didn't buy it to impress anyone.

The only people that have noticed my Sub in public are also watch lovers and it led to a nice conversation. It's only happened a few times. You should buy what you like and not worry about public perception.

If you want to stay away from Rolex regardless, I think a Grand Seiko or maybe Tag's new Skipper would be nice adds. Bring in some more color. I'm not big on Tag Heuer, but that Skipper is nice!

I feel like if you simply changed up the straps on this collection it would add a lot more to it.

[–] CFC-12_21@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

They each have 2-3 different straps/looks. I get what you're saying.

[–] KingLuis@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

something with a pop of colour. check grand seiko, Tag Heuer skipper i've mention before. love the colour of that one. IWC has a nice blue and white Portuguese i think. i think theres a bright green omega and breitling if you are a fan of them.

[–] badpalriri@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

If you don’t want a Rolex I would say go for a Tudor Blackbay or a Pelagos. If you want something more dressy I would say a Cartier Santos.

Perfect collection imo but I would add a Submariner if you ever have a change of heart.

[–] CFC-12_21@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Had a 114060. Didn't like the attention or how I felt wearing a Rolex. Traded down for the 300 and cash. BB 41 Burgundy may be different enough? Hard to come by though

[–] paintslinger77@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (3 children)

I would go for an IWC Pilots Chronograph (Green or Petit Prince), JLC Polaris. Scratch that. You should definitely get a Zenith El Primero before any of those.

Maybe try an Omega or a Breitling…

[–] 1900hustler@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Breitling Datora (but had to be pre-owned to meet budget). Something that is abit of fun, colour or quirky like the Tag Skipper or even a Heuer Monaco which will add colour and variety of case shape.

If you want to go completely off check out Glashutte Original sixties or seventies annual editions which have some wild dial colours such as green, orange, ice blue or yellow. If my wrist allowed it I’d have a seventies in a heartbeat!

[–] Reit007@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

A Lang or another proper dress watch

[–] Zamboni4201@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Maybe a modern diver… Tudor Pelagos. Oris Aquis cal 400.

Or maybe the Tudor GMT Opaline. Grand Seiko has some nice GMT’s. I’d suggest the Omega Seamaster World Timer, but you’ve got plenty of Omega.

Grand Seiko Spring Drive. I bought a Cherry Blossom SBGA413, but the Lake Suwa in titanium or steel are definitely on my list. They’re stunning in person. Web pics are washed out and awful.

IWX Pilot Mark XX. I like the blue, but the green looks good also.

I would add a luxury dress watch that isn’t your typical like Rolex. 😜

[–] Faroffposition@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Nothing. You beat the game.

[–] Jerseybz@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

A JLC reverso. You have pretty much everything else covered.

GO Panomatic Lunar. Maybe in green to give you some color in there.

Zenith El Primero Sport. Or possibly the Chonomaster Original....38mm but wears larger. Recently picked up the Original myself and it's an amazing piece.

[–] Mother-Joe@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

It obviously seems like you don’t have enough omega watches, so maybe you should add constellation to the collection.

[–] MyNameIsVigil@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

A dress watch would be nice.

[–] imac728@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Given your preference for Omega (of which I very much share), a fantastic addition would be a Dark Side of the Moon Apollo 8 (311.92.44.30.01.001) Speedmaster. Complements your existing speedmaster while also being totally different.

Would also highly recommend a Zenith Chronomaster Sport (03.3100.3600/69.M3100). Would be a great piece with a unique 1/10th second hand complication.

A Rolex of some sort

[–] KyleFromDuPage@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Looks like you're out of room. Give one to me so you have room for the next. I am kind like that.
