  1. A dress watch can be worn any time. It can always be dressed down.

  2. The Longines can be worn any time.

  3. I'd wear the Rolex with anything less than formal.

  4. You mean chronograph, not chronometer. I'd wear these with anything less than formal.

  5. The FXD is super casual. The others you could probably swing for business casual.

  6. Anything missing is up to you and your own collecting goals.

Reptile leather is generally considered more formal, but it doesn't have to be; it can always be dressed down. Buy from a reputable strap maker, not some random Aliexpress seller, to make sure you're getting quality materials. Should you buy one? No idea...I don't know you or your preferences.

90 seconds per day variance is outside of specification.

If I can’t afford to buy a watch twice without noticing, then I can’t afford it.

I’d suggest that you not worry about size. Just get the functionality you need. It’s for the gym, not a wedding.

Why would you keep a watch that you don’t like?

[–] MyNameIsVigil@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I don’t have any specific collecting goals beyond buying watches that I enjoy wearing and selling those that I no longer enjoy wearing. So many options at all price points.

It would probably be easiest to just buy a replacement. You could also open the case, identify the movement, find a replacement movement, and swap them.

Why does she need to find an alternative? Why isn't she allowed to buy a watch she likes?

[–] MyNameIsVigil@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

The watch is defective, so it would be easiest to simply return it for a refund.

Watches of far lower quality than anything available today survived artillery fire in the trenches of WW1. Someone working in transport probably spends their day sitting in a truck or forklift, which isn’t anything hazardous for a watch.

The first watch doesn’t matter; it just happens to be the first. It’s not like a watch requires skill or experience to wear. I’d get the same first watch again because I liked it and could afford it at the time.
