Phili was willing to trade Harden to the Clippers in return for Terrance Mann and a few picks, which is an insane deal, but even more insane is that the Clips refused the deal.

Harden is great on offense which is exactly what Miami needs. He’s no Damien Lillard, but right now that’s about as close as you’re gonna get. I think Harden would also mesh well, since he would be #1 or #2 scoring option, when he’d be a solid third in LA.

Harden could be a pain to deal with in the future, but if the Heat can somehow get away with giving up Duncan Robinson and few picks for Harden that would be a great deal for the Heat. I’m sure Pat Riley could pull it off, since the 76ers seem pretty desperate.

But who knows, the Heat already fumbled two stars so they could definitely screw up squiring Harden if they tried I’m sure lmao.

Cause he’s ass

[–] bb1432@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

His fat, lazy ass would never make it to February with the heat. All they did last season was bitch about Kyle Lowry being out of shape.

[–] nikop@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Harden's not really out of shape. He just looks like it and his style of play is methodical and has him holding onto the ball a lot. His burst has definitely not where it used to be though

[–] Beantowntommy@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Idk why the Knicks don’t trade for him

[–] medievalmachine@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Wrong timeline. Heat are contenders now, that's supposedly why they wanted Dame.

[–] Beantowntommy@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I mean Knicks could probably get Harden for Quickly Fornier and picks and they’d be the 3rd best team in the east.

[–] thy_armageddon@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I don’t care what anyone says honestly, the last thing I need is Randle, Barrett, and Harden breaking that 0/27 playoff record. Sometimes you just have to not invite the evil in.

[–] No-Government-9884@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

If the Heat are contenders this season, any of the top 6 in the East is a contender. People need to realize this. The Celtics are fucking choke artists with the Jay’s as well as the Sixers stagnant ass Doc play, and the Bucks have to have everything go right offensively, which is difficult for them. Literally all of these teams can be out-coached and that’s why the best coach and most determined player keep making the Finals. But best coach and most determined player doesn’t have to be a continuing theme. There’s also a lot of luck involved.

The fans in that sub act like they couldn't use Harden. It's insane. He fits for all the same reasons as Dame only without the lengthy contract that they were so mad about.

[–] gymtime69@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Right, that’s what I’m trying to say. What’s the alternative? Miss the playoffs? The east got better and the heat got worse. Heat were the 8th seed last year, I highly doubt their standings will improve without action. Harden isn’t a great option but it’s the best option.

[–] paradoxofchoice@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

so if harden is traded to the clippers, Miami should go to the next best option out of desperation? they could just save their trade assets until someone else becomes available. someone that might stay beyond this season, someone not looking for the max salary in their mid 30s. there will be more players eligible for trades in December and before the deadline.

[–] Nuclearsunburn@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

How did the Heat get worse? Please explain that. Strus and Gabe don’t leave huge gaping holes. They’re replaceable with what we have on the roster already.

The East got better - Boston and Milwaukee got better. How did the Knicks, Cavs, Nets, Hawks, Sixers, or any of the other teams substantially improve? How did any of the non playoff teams improve?

Sorry, this narrative that the Heat are “on the ropes” in the East somehow is just dumb.

We don’t need Harden. He’s a quitter and not what the Heat look for. The Sixers would want Herro and that’s a full stop hang the phone up ask. If they’ll take Lowry + filler and one protected FRP sure. But they won’t.

[–] 1of1czr@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Y’all literally BARELY made it into the playoffs last season. You lost a starter and a decent backup pg and didn’t replace them with anyone. Lowry is old af and now is older. All the teams you mentioned that “didn’t get better” are still most likely going to finish with better records than you. And with a worse roster and more G league players you guys definitely aren’t beating MIL or BOS this year with their upgrades. So yes the Heat got worse. It’s ok to admit it

[–] Nuclearsunburn@alien.top 0 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Except the Heat didn’t get worse. You are just married to your narrative. “Not beating Boston or Milwaukee” - nobody expected us to beat them 2/3 times each in the last 4 years, and nobody is picking anyone but Denver over them anyway. Guess you haven’t paid attention to the players you dismissively lump into the “more G League players” category. They’re good and will contribute.

Boston and Milwaukee making moves to try to get past us doesn’t make us worse. We are gonna be just fine and a top 6 seed most likely. I’m sure you’ll be acting shocked when it happens too.

[–] 1of1czr@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I’m not a heat hater I like jimmy and bam I’m just saying you guys definitely didn’t get any better and lost contributors. But you’re saying you didn’t get worse. That’s basically the definition of getting worse unless one of your players takes another step in their game. You’re right no one expected you guys to beat them the last few years but this year is a lot different. And Top 6 I feel is a stretch. I got Mil, Bos, Philly, cavs, knicks and maaaybe nets above the heat. I feel like the Hawks are gonna have a bounce back season too they could finish top 4-5 if all goes well. Orlando is a team on the rise to look out for. I don’t think heat will get bounced from playoffs but I think they’ll most likely be a play-in team again and definitely regressed

[–] Nuclearsunburn@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

With all due respect, you just aren’t paying attention if you think the Heat regressed by losing Max and Gabe. When they’re on the Heat they’re just “undrafted players” but when they play within the culture and the developmental system in Miami and become good players…and they get paid and walk, they’re “important contributors”.

We also did sign Josh Richardson and Thomas Bryant who are going to contribute. Both looked good in preseason and Josh knows his way around.

Herro is back, I think with all the trade talk everyone forgot he’s on the team and he’s really freakin good. Again, if you’re just getting Heat news from Reddit you’d think Herro is terrible, because Portland didn’t want him. He could legitimately be an AllStar this year. 26PPG upside easily.

Jamal Cain, Haywood Highsmith, Orlando Robinson are all ready to contribute right now. And they will. Then when they get paid and move on they’ll be the next batch of guys the talking heads flip out over that we lost.

So yeah, losing two guys just opens the door for other guys to get in there and shine. I didn’t even mention Jovic and Jacquez, who we did draft. Nothing to indicate those guys aren’t ready to contribute day 1.

Lowry didn’t really contribute a whole lot in the regular season anyway. I agree that he’s cooked if we need him more than 18 minutes a game and we definitely should be bringing in another point guard. Dame would have been perfect but we didn’t get him and we move on. I’m not against renting Harden either if the price is Lowry + a pick or two but he’s going to want an extension and I don’t think Pat is gonna bite on that one. Besides, Harden wants LA.

Anyway, didn’t mean to just go off on you, but I’m frustrated by the narrative around the Heat that we are somehow worse than last year. Boston and Milwaukee improved but the team we have is not worse than the one we had last year. I think getting younger guys more minutes is going to lead to more regular season success too. I’m seeing 45-37 or similar, should be good enough in the East for a top 6.

[–] iCOULDbewr0ng@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago
  1. Miami already has limited assets, giving up 1 or 2 FRPs for a 34 y/o potential 1 yr rental is very questionable

  2. Arison does not want to pay huge taxes, which I believe Heat are only a few hundred thousands away from reaching the 2nd apron.

  3. Harden’s attitude in Miami’s system could be a problem

  4. History of underwhelming playoff performance

Could be more reasons but that’s what I got right now

[–] AnonymousIguana_@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Heat culture is many things, but James Harden is none of them

[–] zachthompson02@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Are they stupid?

[–] DueTrick2324@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Because Pat Reilly will not put up with Harden’s dramatics….

[–] R1cksh0w@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Why would you think that the Heat would be the one who fumbles if Harden fails. He has literally walked out on 3 teams now. He's the problem.

[–] RVAIsTheGreatest@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Because Miami believes strongly in their culture, believes strongly in Team before Individual, and believes in their roster. Harden is an awesome player, but tough to add someone like him mere days before a season. Throws a lot of your plans to the ground as a team and you're starting from scratch.

Miami is comfortable with what they have. The Clippers are comfortable with what they have. The Sixers are not desperate to move James Harden at all. They'd have further dropped their price if they were....they're only entertaining moving him because they've been backed into a corner slightly, not because they're looking to jettison him. The Sixers know their title changes hinge on Harden being healthy, productive, and on the floor.

[–] Ok_Assumption5734@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

FR, OP might as advocate that Pop take Harden

[–] Tapprunner@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Because they don't need a quitter

[–] Ok_Assumption5734@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

It's ok James, you'll get your bag in free agency...

But for real, Jimmy's gonna be on his ass all day and we all know how James reacts to having to step up

[–] Yommination@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Riley would strangle his ass

[–] 2020IsANightmare@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Oh, I imagine they will eventually. If the Clippers can't get a deal done.

Where Miami most needs help is scoring.

I'm going to ignore all the "culture" bullshit. Kyle Lowry is their current starting point guard.

"Harden will be a free agent!" Sure. So will Miami's current starting point guard.

"Harden is getting older!" Sure. Miami's current starting point guard is older. Also, worth noting that Harden is only days older than Butler.

Jimmy is getting older and Miami got worse during the offseason.

The Blazers just wanted to tank and still wouldn't take Miami's poo-poo platter of a trade offer (would have netted them picks and ensured they'd still suck.)

Unless Miami is trading Butler, then it's time to go all in.

[–] MississippiBudMANE@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Hardens a team killer

[–] Drag0nborn1234@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Sixers want 2 Firsts+ a decent player for one season of James Harden, that's Hella not worth it.

[–] shazam482@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I don't think Jimmy and Harden would get along. Also I doubt Harden would buy into Heat culture. There's way too many strip clubs in Miami

[–] TdotSkunt@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Cause they desperate to win one without Bron

[–] BadBoySwag@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Only if the heat can get him for just Lowry and some randos

[–] No-Government-9884@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

They should! So I don’t have to worry about him coming to the Clippers. But to me, I think Pat Reilly looks at Harden and says “this is what’s wrong with the NBA” any time he sees his non defense, non running off the ball bearded ass.
