I've been fascinated with the Thompson twins since they were at OTE, and both had a good preseason showing. Which one do you think ends up being better? Both are incredible athletes with massive upsides as defenders/playmakers, especially at the PG spot, but they are in very different situations on their respective teams.

They will finish with identical stats

Amen imo. I’ll take the 6’7 point guard over the off ball wing

he’s not really an off ball wing he’s a point forward like a igoudala type.

True but still taking Amen

Also he’s not gonna have the ball a lot sharing the court with Cade and Ivey.

i’m personally taking amen. as i understand, he’s the better athlete and passer, while ausar is the better shooter. given both are similar in terms of being freak athletes positioning to leverage that as passers and defenders, i’m taking the twin who specializes more heavily over the generalist, the former archetype seems more consistently valuable

Ausar is a better shooter but he’s still far from good as well. And Amen has been better than expected as a shooter so far. He can make his free throws and 3s off the catch

yeah that’s exactly what i mean. i’d rather have the thompson twin that’s better at the thompson twin specialties than the one who’s a slightly less shitty shooter

Better athlete?

[–] Excellent-Cod-3430@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I was just talking about this yesterday lol

Ausar is a better shooter and is a wing, Amen is a better athlete and playmaker and is a PG

Imo Ausar has the higher floor and Amen has the higher ceiling. I'll take the ceiling guy usually since Amen's floor is pretty good also

[–] ballgreens@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I don't know which guy is which yet, I just know they're both good

Ausar. He’s gonna get love from all three of their ball handlers and be the only “sure thing” on Detroits roster till they can figure out Cade/Ivey in the backcourt and Duren/BeefStew in the front court.

Amen’s the better player IMO but he’s been drafted by a team that values Jalen Green, Jabari, and Sengun more. He’s gonna have to work much harder to develop correctly but if he does will be an All NBA player.

The spacing in a Cade/Ivey/Ausar/Stewart/Duren lineup is atrocious. They might bench Ivey or Ausar to start a shooter at the wing

[–] Zotzotbaby@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I agree the spacing is bad, Monty seems to like Ausur and will likely pull two of the other guys out for spacing, since Ausur is the “best” shooter outside of Cade in that lineup.

No Thompson Twin will ever be better than Tom Bailey
