After silently judging as I scrolled through posts riddled with hot takes from 5 years ago I thought...

What are your hottest takes about how the NBA will look 5 years from now? (Go wild with your guesses, nobody will be judging you......)

My hot takes are

  1. Josh Giddy will be in the MVP race
  2. The Booklyn Nets will have either made or won the finals due to Bridges and Ben Simmons showing out
  3. LeBron will continue to refuse to retire, while still putting up 18/4/4. And will blame it on wanting to play with his wife's uncles barbers daughters stepson 17 years from now.

Jokic will lose the massive favor he currently has with NBA fans because of Wemby. In 5 years Wemby with the Spurs will go on multiple final runs and Wemby's legacy as an all time great will include having beaten Curry, Jokic, KD, and (old) Lebron on his way to win the finals. Jokic and Curry will still be in good form when Wemby beats them so it'll count towards his legacy but he won't get credit for truly beating Lebron/KD. He will end up higher all time than Jokic and maybe KD.

That less than 25% of Draftees will come from US colleges.

obstacles on the court

It will be almost impossible to time shift games and skip ads. Disappointing, because my sports watching is almost exclusively starting a game late and catching up to live. Usually takes less than an hour realtime to watch a game.

Toumani Camara 5 time MVP

[–] Madterps2021@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

SGA being top 5.

Lebronze wishes that he could have won two more titles to try to make his fake case for GOAT more relevant, but no matter what happened a man don't even like basketball that much like Nikola Jokic has defeated him.

Chet Holmgren is a bust, too skinny and too injured prone.

Wemby developed into a decent starter but failed to become as great as some people say that he would.

5 years from now I still won't care

The defense will get better

OKC is in the play in race. Lebron isnt retired yet. Kyrie isnt in the NBA. KAT was traded to the Hawks. Ben Simmons is an all star candidate. Doc Rivers speaks only in sign language.

I just hope that league pass lets me get all the games, even if they’re on a different network or “in my geographical location”

No American born players will win mvp in the next 5 years

[–] musicide@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

LeBron will average 20.1 pts, 5.6 rebounds and 9.5 assists, on his way to his 6th championship.

[–] StormDragonZero@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

LeBron's still playing.

Oscar Wembanyama will get drafted by the Spurs

Wemby is coming off his first MVP.

Spurs and OKC in the middle of a decade-plus bloodbath for Western Conference Supremacy.

Magic are about to take over the East. Paolo and Franz too good.

[–] jgroove_LA@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Wemby is coming off his second MVP by then.

[–] HarbingerJohnny@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Wemby either becomes a hall of famer GOAT candidate, or Ralph Samson 2.0.

Luka and Zion will combine to weigh atleast 1000lbs.

[–] Nicobade@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Luka has forced a trade out of Dallas and formed a superteam elsewhere, he's become the no. 1 villain in the NBA.

[–] Cword-Celtics@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Jaylen Brown and the Celtics have an ugly breakup.

[–] jgroove_LA@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

We're watching games on streaming apps in every local market. We're watching national games on Netflix/Amazon or Apple. Four teams are threatening to move to Mexico City if they don't get a new arena. Chris Paul has already been fired from his first head coaching job.

Drama queens in the offseason so it still gets our attention.

  1. Ja Morant is in a big market (my guess NY Knicks) and aging badly

  2. Zion’s career prospects resemble Boogie post-Warriors

  3. Giddey is a solid starter for a mid market contender that is not OKC. He is NOT an MVP candidate though he is a beloved, billboard featured player in his new home.

  4. OKC big 3 of SGA, J-Dub, and Chet are trying to get over the hump and win finals.

  5. Suns, Lakers, and Clippers traded draft picks are considered Very Valuable assets to own

  6. Lebron has lost a step, but posting this will still get you downvoted on r/nba

  7. Giannis is still a Buck.

  8. Tatum and Brown have been separated.

  9. Doncic does not play in Dallas. He does not have a chip or an MVP. He is still really freaking good.

  10. 3 of the top 5 MVP vote earners are foreign born. None of them are Giannis, Embiid, or Jokic.

[–] dietcokewLime@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

It will exist, or it won't

[–] CleansingthePure@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

The Pacers become a legit dark horse and make the ECF or Finals.
