Who are they playing next?

[–] Mustache-Meister@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Unai has been very underestimate since his time at Arsenal

[–] New-Midnight2700@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Unai is not appreciated enough. This guy does excellent work nearly everywhere he goes.

Difference between Gerrard and Emery has been night and day, also their recruitment has been superb (bar Tielemans).

[–] vin_unleaded@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

It's OK, Gerrard has found his managerial level now.

[–] Spookytooth66@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Hopefully Tielemans has turned a corner, he came on and set up Bailey's goal yesterday.

[–] Strananach@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Yeah I mean his ability was never the issue, but his workrate and stamina.

[–] NewAppleverse@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Hardest thing to build. IIRC Kovacic had similar issues when he came to Chelsea from Real.

Took few seasons for him to stand on his knees upto 75mins mark.

[–] qwertygasm@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Difference is Tielemans has been in the prem for years and is actively regressing in that regard

[–] Forgetmyglasses@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Playing at the highest level for so long probably fucks your knees and joints up as well.

[–] AnnieIWillKnow@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Kovavic -> Barkley

Barkley -> Kovacic

Every 70th minute. We remember

[–] TheKingMonkey@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Definitely last season. Unai was picking up about 2 points per game with Gerrard's squad.

[–] gizmostrumpet@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Tielemans has had his moments, plus he came on a free.

[–] somethingnotcringe1@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Villa were very close to going down a bad path but they realised that Christian Purslow who wanted to bring in his favourite Liverpool players was the problem and got rid accordingly.

[–] moriero@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

We'll take that Tielemans right off your hands, don't worry

[–] TehJofus@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

It’s a shame that these stats ignore cup games, it’d make us look boss :(

…well, except for the 4-0, that’s less boss.

[–] FatWalcott@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Has this been Emery's best league performance? I dont remember Sevilla or PSG going on a run like this

[–] Infernode5@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

This is the 4th 10+ game home winning streak in his career, crazy record

[–] Williamklarsko@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Arsenal went on a bender aswell with like 17 consecutive wins/draws

[–] mesmartpants@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Happy for him. Didn’t deserve to be made so mich fun of at arsenal

Emery masterclass, can see them winning the Conference league comfortably as well, only competitor I can think off will be Fenerbahce and the teams that might come from EL.

[–] TheKingMonkey@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Emery masterclass, can see them winning the Conference league comfortably as well, only competitor I can think off will be Fenerbahce and the teams that might come from EL.

We got a rude awakening in the Conference League when we went to Poland, at the moment the group we are in has basically been reset with all four teams in it having the same number of points and the same goal difference (3 points and +/-0 GD) after two games. We go to AZ on Thursday which is a really big game for us, it's a "must not lose" fixture as far as I can tell, but at their place and in the form they are in it's going to be a tricky task.

[–] Kenny_dies@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

“The teams that might come from EL” is a very wide selection. They might win the Conf but definitely not comfortably like you seem to claim

[–] Indydegrees2@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Saying this in October is absolutely insane behaviour

home league wins

[–] AjenoMerveilles@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

That picture of Emery there is perfect.

"You like that, aye? Want more of that, aye?"

[–] lewis30491@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I'm very okay with Aston Villa pulling off a Leicester City this season

Congrats to our old manager. He deserves it all👏🏾

[–] TeamUlovetohate@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Getting emery was a major coup for villa

[–] Jon98th@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Give Unai a half decent team and he’ll make it into a European contender; the man is a legend.

Good motherfuckingEbening !

[–] Loud-Caregiver6566@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Happy for Emery, after seeing how the fans and players at arsenal mocked him.. deserved another chance in the Prem. Always remember when he returned against us in the Europa, knocked us out and didn’t even celebrate.. classy bloke

[–] CanadianToffee18@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I so badly want to see this team make the top 4.

[–] lospollosakhis@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

People were writing Emery off after the Newcastle game lol

[–] ElectronicEnd839@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Aston villa on its way to getting qualified for Europa league..

[–] StriveForBetter99@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Sports strategy is sports strategy

[–] daab2g@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I think it's great to see Unai stick it to all the losers who laughed at his accent while at Arsenal, he's a top man and top coach.

[–] Wrosgar@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Hope this isn't now a jijx for the next home match

[–] Poli_Talk@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

The Villan Arc

[–] HarbyFullyLoaded_12@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Who was the last team to beat them there?

[–] mrgonzalez@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Must be a nice season ticket

Good ebening - Emery Unai

[–] showmethenoods@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

The Villa midfield is quality, Luiz, McGinn, Kamara is really strong. Tielemens if he can find his feet is only going to help
