What did those people chant ?

[–] Jazano107@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (5 children)
[–] Pep_Baldiola@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

It's one of the most heartless things to celebrate a person's death, especially for a petty things like sport rivalry. We don't live in medieval time anymore. Wake the fuck up.

[–] Jazano107@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

its just a chant, yeah its bad taste but a stadium ban for that seems over the top to me

[–] LDLB99@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Depressing comment

[–] Tjazeku@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Sir Bobby has more history than your entire club, get the fuck outta here lol

[–] Professional_Sink_30@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Agree, the punishment is soft.

[–] InfinityEternity17@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Fuck off with that, those arseholes obviously deserve a ban for mocking the death of one of England's greatest ever footballers. Are you one of those who's been banned?

[–] ThereWillBeGoals@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Well done. I have to say that City have tended to be fairly lax on banning fans for this sort of thing, so hopefully this is a sign of change.

[–] BBQ_HaX0r@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Probably want to make a strong statement now with the game coming up to deter any incidents then when it'll be higher profile.

Is it offensive to ask what they were chanting?

[–] MichaelB2505@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (3 children)

“Bobbys in a box”

Idiots

[–] hammer_of_grabthar@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (2 children)

I find myself cringing a bit about how shit that is, agreeing with you that they're idiots, but thinking it's absolute overkill to ban people for it.

They have the right to exclude people for behaviour they don't want, it's a private stadium owned by a private company, but it's a bit OTT to me.

[–] PuigFati69@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

A temperary ban would be fair imo, permanently banning is a bit harsh

Big Up City get those cunts banned

[–] JCabral91@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (4 children)

Classy move City. I would want my club to take the same action if the situation was reversed.

[–] JonRoberts87@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

And so it should be, Franny Lee died the other week (with sadly much less fanfare it seems) and I'd be angry hearing United fans singing songs about his death

[–] Hicko11@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

i might be wrong but isnt there a song about wanting the Glazers dead??

[–] vitalmtg@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

American Manchester United fan calling his rival team classy. This hits all the bingo spots

[–] raysofdavies@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I feel like the existence of Hillsborough and Munich chants create something that cuts through our rivalry, we share that utter hatred for them. Which makes it additionally awful when the worst fans do it to each other.

[–] Candlestick_Park@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

The thing about Munich chants by City fans is it reveals how stupid and ignorant they are, because Frank Swift, who was covering the game for the News of the World, died in the crash.

That’s Frank Swift, who played his entire professional career for Manchester City as a goalkeeper, won the FA Cup in 1934 and the League in 1937, and won 19 caps for England.

So you’re joking about the death of one of the very best players in the history of your club. Stupid.

they finally get some fans and they turn out to be pricks lmao

[–] KRino19@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Etihad does be empty enough as it is.

[–] stoneman9284@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I would love them to play one home game with no home supporters

[–] Maleficent_Dust_7462@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Sports are full of trash talk but it is just a game at the end of the day. When the talk goes beyond simple insults and instead is directed at the dead or violence, it should not be tolerated.

I think City is right to ban them as it is clear these people are incapable of keeping their heads on straight and understanding the limits of this game. We have too many man children in todays age

[–] DerpJungler@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Yeah I'm watching the Beckham docu with my girlfriend and she was like "why are they so mad at him" after he got sent off against Argentina and I was like "football fan culture is the most toxic out there".

I've been attending games since I was 5 (in multiple different countries) and fans everywhere are toxic, racist, insulting, provoking, violent.

I love football but the toxicity has been getting worse and worse and its now all over social media as well. That's my rant.

[–] Maleficent_Dust_7462@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I don’t think it’s just this sport either. It feels like people in every day life are more spoiled, toxic, and violent. What’s wrong with people

I wish clubs would take all forms of abuse seriously including racist abuse of players. Lifetime bans.

[–] blooddragonsin@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

That's class.

[–] revenge_of_hamatachi@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (7 children)

Of all the players to revel in one's death, you pick on the classiest most gentleman footballer that probably ever played in England.

Absolute tossers.

[–] Mom_said_I_am_cute@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I mean, they have no idea of what happened prior to 2010, so I can understand they have no idea who he is.

[–] kalamari__@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

as if these clowns know that. they only know shit from YT

[–] WauliePalnuts01@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

This sport is going downhill more and more everyday

[–] Aggressive-Theory609@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Why would they do that tho? Aside from being idiotic dumb fks like if ur English why on earth would u talk crap about england arguably greatest talent ever

[–] Jee-NX@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. These idiots had it coming.

[–] singabro@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (2 children)

It was just some banter in poor taste. Doubt Sir Bobby would care. He's heard much worse.

[–] Venous-Roland@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I suppose we can call down to your house and sing that song about someone close to you has passed away!! It's just for the laugh!!

If I had had the kind of talent and impact on a sport and a club as Bobby Charlton, I honestly think I'd be damn well pleased if said club's rivals would be cheering my death for no other reason than the fact I was a great player, 50 years after I stopped playing.

No higher praise, in my book.

[–] New_Archer_7539@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I think they should be named and shamed once identified. Show these young POS the hard way that their actions do bear consequences and make them rethink if it was worth screwing up the rest of their lives now that no one will want to hire the disrespectful twats because they mocked someone who just passed.

[–] depressingmirror2@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Lol mate. Have you ever heard of virtue signalling?

[–] re-duck@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

If he gets to be a hero to some for something as inconsequential and pointless as kicking a ball around its only fair he can be a villain to some as well.

The right response is ignoring it, taking it as light banter from rivals and total strangers who didnt personally know the man and moving on.

I hope they are ready to ban 90% of the league when Fergie dies.

[–] depressingmirror2@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Is it offensive? Who’s offended? Is it not more offensive to equate this to racism or homophobia?

[–] zrk23@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

the silver lining about that is that this could be a wake up call for those dumbfucks, considering they looked like teenagers or young adults

but who im kidding, prob won't change a thing

[–] depressingmirror2@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

And why should they change? Who have they hurt?

[–] deactivate_iguana@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

City fans- total scum.

[–] StreetkidLife@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Unluckyyyyy. Stupid cunts

[–] thebigmarvinski@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago
