Field watches are pretty versatile aesthetically and in terms of use. They are basically casual watches, but look OK dressed up on a nice leather strap too.
In that budget: Seiko 5 field watch. Vaer S3 or S5 field watch. Between these two, Vaer might be more durable because of its more scratch resistant sapphire crystal. Seiko is a much bigger and well known brand.
For casual and outdoors and work days, wear it on a metal bracelet or nato strap. For weddings, nice dinner, church, put it on a dressy leather strap.
Check the Garmin instinct series, best hiking and camping watches that you can find at that price range. As for nice events probably wont do.
If you are in the US you could wait for this citizen Promaster Tough bn0211 to come back in stock (you can set up a notification on ebay for when it does).
Or get this citizen eco-drive field watch that's not as tough but still will do just fine in all situations and you can put it on a nato/zulu strap when going outdoors or for work
Retail $1295... I know they're owned by Invicta, but come on...
Honestly, I'd buy a G Shock for $99 and something like a Seiko 5 for 200. If it has to be a single watch, get a field watch, maybe a used Hamilton Khaki?
