Suppose all the other rules regarding NBA salaries (max contracts, teams can't give equity as payment, etc) still apply. The other perks given to stars such as no trade clauses, can be given to him as well.

How would you approach this negotiation if you were the Spurs?

How about if you were Wemby?

What do you feel would ultimately be a fair deal?

There's always a cap on NBA salaries. Whether it's the rookie wage scale for your draft position or a max based on your prior salary (if signing with the same team) or based on years experience, with potential to bypass the years served with All-NBA/MVP/DPOY (aka the supermax which just jumps you to accessing the 35% max sooner)
