Javier Tebas proposed to the clubs in the Extraordinary Assembly of LaLiga an increase in his salary, as EL ESPAÑOL reported exclusively. The president of the employers' association will have a new variable salary that can make him earn up to 5.47 million euros a year, compared to the 3.36 million he earned last season.

The proposal by Tebas and the Delegate Commission was approved with 40 clubs voting in favour. Only Real Madrid and one other team - the vote was secret and it is not known which one it was - were against this salary increase through the LaLiga president's bonus. Real Madrid publicly announced at the Assembly that it would reject both the accounts of the employers' association, for not being transparent and not being well detailed, and the new remuneration of Tebas.

Tebas' salary is thus updated retroactively to the 2022/2023 season. Furthermore, if he is re-elected president, this proposal creates a precedent that ensures that his salary can be multiplied by 15 in just 10 years. When he was appointed president, he criticised the salary of his predecessor and reduced it by a few thousand euros to 348,000 euros per year. However, this predisposition was short-lived and he quickly began to propose increases in his variable salaries.

As EL ESPAÑOL exclusively published, Tebas maintains his fixed salary of 2.1 million euros, but changes the bonus he receives at the end of each season. Until now he received up to 65% of that fixed salary as a variable linked to the sale of audiovisual rights.

However, now he will have two variables, one quantitative and one qualitative, which will be linked to the EBITDA of the LaLiga Group. In the Extraordinary Assembly, only the quantitative one was voted, which can make him earn up to 60% of his fixed salary, i.e. 1.31 million euros, and it will be enough to fulfil 85% of the Business Plan for him to be paid.

Honestly, this is insane. No goal line technology, no sound for var, but let's raise this idiot's salary. Are those clubs presidents drunk or what?

[–] fastcooljosh@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Madrid with the W.

Fuck Tebas

[–] planinsky@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I ~~don't~~ can't understand how clubs are actually supporting this clown.

[–] BlueLabel19@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

He will invent new fair play restrictions to punish them. Madrid is the only club right now financially strong enough to face that

[–] PassengerOk9027@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Old fascist dipshit

Really wanted to like the Spanish league

[–] voli12@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Does he hold hostage the kids of 40 club presidents or what? How can they be voting for this clown to get around a 2M raise when he didn't add goal line technology because it costs 3M?

[–] mylanguage@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Tebas was the only president to get Madrid and Barca to agree to the shared TV deal. He’s doubled TV money for some clubs compared to the past. He has their loyalty forever

[–] luisuazal@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

He ears more than all the other top leagues presidents combined. He also has raised his own salary in a scale of 10 since he became president.

[–] bewarethegap@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

We can’t even get GLT but Tebas gets a fucking raise. This league is in shambles. 😂

[–] TimTkt@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

2M raise for spreading bullshit on twitter and getting extra money for CVC deal, some jobs are really hard

[–] WerhmatsWormhat@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I could shitpost on Twitter for way less than that if that’s what they’re looking for.

[–] KyloRen___@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Why is my man getting paid 5.4 mio to talk shit about the clubs in 'his' league?

[–] TastyTacoTonight@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Why do Germans always write million as mio?

[–] Ask_Asensio@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Because he has the support of 95% of the League for every single resolution he proposes.

The only consistent "No" vote he has against is Madrid and the only two "maybe no" are Athletic & Barca if they feel like it during that day.

[–] Eibermann@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

you can count on athletic, barca not so much

[–] OneBall22Players@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

It's either vote for Tebas or have him do daily interviews about every single situation of the club.

If voting for Tebas ment he would publicly support super league Perez would think twice too.

[–] RauloGonzalez@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

If voting for Tebas ment he would publicly support super league Perez would think twice too

Tebas's support would mean fuck all, the leagues don't have anything to do with the ESL.

[–] pichabro@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Barca have been voting for Tebas long before he started talking shit about your bad finances

[–] viimaharja@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Barca cant really say no right now

[–] Ask_Asensio@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (4 children)

As always we are the only ones consistently against anything that benefits Tebas.

But then you get bullshit theories like Tebas is a Madridista or that other teams don't like him being the League president when is the complete reverse.

[–] Kasj0@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

But then you get bullshit theories like Tebas is a Madridista

Where is the contradiction here? He said he is even if you or the club don't like him.

[–] Ask_Asensio@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The contradiction is that 95% of the League Clubs consistently vote for the "Madridista" to be President yet Madrid is the only one always voting against.

Everybody else like to have the Madridista in charge except Madrid...

[–] pichabro@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

The issue for me is when Barca fans keep bringing it up implying that him being a Madrid fan means he’s not impartial. Every other club in the league including Barca don’t care and for the most part, are I’m favor of him. Why are we always the team to speak out against him?

[–] finneas998@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Madrid hates tebas =/= tebas hates madrid

[–] TimTkt@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

It’s different but both are true though. Tebas hates Perez with is close past / current / close future of Madrid so it’s the same, he doesn’t love Madrid enough to not try to fuck up Perez as much as possible.

[–] bveres94@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

bullshit theories like Tebas is a Madridista

he himself said many times that he's a madridista. it's not a theory

He is a Madridista though. That's no conspiracy

[–] cuentanueva@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Coincidentally, the Goal Line Tech costs around 200k per stadium. Which would be 4 million. Yet they gave Tebas 50% of the cost as a pay increase...

It's a bit ridiculous.

[–] Elrond007@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

The cost is just measured in referee "authority", aka egomania

[–] TrappsRightFoot@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

It's actually crazy that I still have no clue at all who the president of any other league is, but I literally see a story about this dickhead at least once every single week.

[–] KarlKraftwagen@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

is dat nicht rauball oder wie immer der atze heißt

[–] HelpMeSum1Help@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

The prem has Dick Masters and he’s less well known than Tebas

[–] Tootsiesclaw@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

This is the first I'm hearing that Richard Scudamore's not in charge any more.

And tbf I only knew about Scudamore because he wrote an intro in the 03/04 Merlin sticker album (and there's a school near me with the same name, so it stuck in my mind)

[–] ObiWanKenobiNil@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

theres a school near you called "merlin sticker album"?

[–] BusShelter@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Yeah there's always one kid that never shows up.

[–] CalimeroX@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (6 children)

Is that a joke or a real name?

Lmao, fuck this league. What a joke and embarrassment.

[–] MERTENS_GOAT@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Why would anyone agree to that let alone 95% of the clubs

Thats an insane raise on a already insane salary.

[–] Colchoner@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Thats really disgusting and shameful. In his reign la liga is struggling to be the 2nd best league in europe, not so long ago he was all in for battle with epl. Not even to mention most la liga clubs cant sign anyone for 3 years.
