A MB&F and I am 0% likely to get it.

VC Overseas.
Stainless - possible. Gold - I’d need to sell a BUNCH of shit
I have a few. I could maybe get one, but even that is questionable Big pilot perpetual blue and Regular in green. And panerai red gold in blue 😋
If I'm being realistic, it's a VC Fiftysix in steel with a blue dial. I might be able to slowly work my way up to that.
But my actual grail is the AP Code 11.59 Starwheel. Which I will never be able to afford.
I'll get it whenever casio puts it back in stock
I have 2. A vintage two tone bluesy which I already have acquired and a jlc reverso which is pretty likely
Mine is a 116520 in white dial. I don’t know if I’ll ever get one in the condition that I want it lol and not willing to pay insane money for it either, so every day that goes by, the chances are getting slimmer
Overseas Perpetual
Would be nice one day if I get a promotion at work
As a bit of a Star Wars nerd, I really like the Death Star Tourbillon, but at over $250k AUD (is for the box set, who doesn't what a 6 foot prop box) never happening.
Then there's the slightly more practical ones I really like but still can't see myself ever actually spending that much on. Speedy, Zulu Time, Aqua Terra...
Still got to get my wife on board with me buying my first automatic at the $500-$800 range.
Omega Speedmaster (Green Dial, Yellow Gold) 310.60.42.50.10.001 - highly unlikely :(
More realistic grail is the Rolex Datejust mint green dial, 36mm, fluted bezel, oyster bracelet.
I've fallen in love with Vacheron Constantin since Succession S3. The top of my holy grail would be VC Mercator, but any from the Grand Explorateur line would suffice as well. Would probably need a magic lamp and Disney's Genie to make it happen though.
This
ALS Datograph Up Down Lumen. I could afford it, but it would be a monumentally stupid financial decision. The grail I most likely will get at some point is the ALS Saxonia Moonphase or 1815 Chronograph. But the thing about grails is, what then? So I'm forever flirting with them, seeing them in shops, looking up their prices online. Much more fun that way.
Patek ref. 1463 in steel with Breguet numerals. Apparently only around 20 made and they go for over 1 mil USD at auction so unless I win the lottery it’s just a dream lol
A. Lange Datograph perpetual. 0% chance I get it, but I'm cool with that.
Almost any watch from Lange & Sohn
FP Journe Chronometre Bleu: https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/the-search-is-over-this-entry-level-fp-journe-chronometre-bleu-is-my-new-favorite-watch
And no, I will never obtain it. I am destined to love it from afar.
The rainbow flyback el primero. 100%, I got it last year.
Blue Dial Cartier Santos Medium.
Prolly in 10-15 years but i’ll get back to you in a year if I can cut it down :/
Rolex Explorer II, black face on black Rubber B strap.
Just need to get one.. I’m on my ADs list. 8 months and counting.
The GS spring drive watches. I think I'll be able to get them in the near future as $6000 isn't very much to save up (compared to like a Rolex or AP)
I received a Bulova Marine Star for a graduation gift from my parents in 2001. I loved it. Within a year I lost it. I always partied, whatever... I vowed I'd buy it again someday. Last year I bought my first real watch since.... A Bulova Marina star - The Devil Diver version. Took 21 damn years to bring myself to spend nearly 1k on a watch. It almost never leaves my wrist and there isn't a watch out there I'd rather have. It's simple, robust, and takes the beating I dish out during exercise, surfing, and paddleboarding.
I really can't narrow it down to just one, so my top three grails are:
I will most certainly never own any of these because they are all fuck off expensive and fuck off rare, but to me that's kinda the point of a grail, something that's fun to daydream about but you'll probably never actually have.
I don’t have a grail I have a long list of watches I want. I’m about halfway through my list. They’re all attainable, but the full collection is really my grail
The white chronomaster was one of mine, too. Until they revealed the pink one, I absolutely love that.
I’ve bought and sold several grails over the years of collecting, some multiple times.
Clean. Gold accents have to be done right for me and this does it.
This is my grail, Arnold & Son Luna Magna Platinum and I will never get it. No matter how much money I have in future I really cannot justify spending $60k+ on a watch...
Oyster perpetual or a grand Seiko. No chance of getting one but I like to look
Lange Datograph. It’s not a question of if… only when!
Same, one way or another I'll have it on my wrist
Right here. Not sure where I’d wear it. Yacht club or country club?
My grail watches just depend on the month or year. When you dig watches, one pops up as an opportunity and you just love it. Nothing static about grail watches except the human mind. So many awesome watches out there.
Omega Snoopy! It’s nothing special, but the Moonwatch was my first watch and I’m a huge beagle and peanuts fan. Plus, it’s a great looking watch!
Lange
JLC Master Control Geo is the grail. Not because it's super expensive, just don't see them often.
I went to look at one last week actually. Problem with this thing is it was $9700 a year ago, and today it's $14,600. It's not worth that.
This market is just goofy right now.
Tudor Black Bay 58. Probably never going to get it, I can’t justify that kind of cash on a watch but I sure do like looking at the pics.
Probably the 1993 JLC Reverso Tourbillion. It's from the year I was born, it's a tourbillon, and it's from the family of watches I most want to purchase from right now (Reverso). That said, unless my life takes a drastic turn upward, I don't see myself getting one ever, since they sit in the $40k+ range on the secondary market and I really can't justify spending that kind of money on a toy when I already have one kid, hopefully two in the future.
/u/Dragonolical - I have the CM Sport and I wouldn't do it again. The more classical El Primero models wear with greater versatility and have a distinct charm, whereas Zenith really cheaped out on the bracelet and case to hit that $10~11k price. If the CM Sport really had the fit and finish of a Daytona, it'd be $15k.
SBGA011
I got it about 8 years ago. So incredibly happy with it. Haven't had any urge to get other watches since.
