Big nothing burger from Silver, tough spot but good on chuck for asking tough questions.

[–] Life_Wolf_3999@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Barkley for Prez !

[–] lostinspace801@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Charles just out here doing damn good

[–] kingofargyle@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Word salad-not saying much

[–] 3LevelACDF@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

spoken like a lawyer. great non-answer. in the meantime. bridges keeps working out with the team.

[–] TrustmeIII@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Accusations first of all 🤓 what a joke lol

[–] cmwynne3@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I’m way out of the loop I guess. Who are the players that Chuck is referring to?

The real King Charles.

[–] realpheo@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Nice by chuck but wtf is the NBA supposed to do if some player beats his wife. If he wants to do it hes going to do it. No training from the NBA will stop that.

[–] Foreign_Salary_1789@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Not sure what people were expecting Silver to say.

Only so much he can do.

[–] blacklite911@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

“The consequences are enormous.”

What?

[–] BMB281@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I love that the people in the background don’t realize they are cheering at the most awkward moment

[–] Ricemobile@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

My jaw dropped when I heard this. Holy shit, Charles Barkley really is the best. I love this man so much

Imagine if Silver responded: "Did you beat your wife today?

[–] FartIntoCushions@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Chuck always keeps it real. Best media personality that we have.

[–] PlaceboKid24@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Damn he got silver stuck but it’s good that he said it

[–] papichino88@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Barkley is right and props to him for asking this question but the recent case with Trevor Bauer is a reminder that the league can't be judge, jury and executioner. I think in the case of Bridges and especially KPJ, the evidence is quite clear but people were calling for Trevor Bauer's head as well when his accuser came out with her "evidence". This new age social media crowd loves for organizations to take rapid "stand with xyz" positions but in most cases, the truth takes time to reveal itself.

Silver is an employee he works within a framework provided by the owners.

Reason #37829339 I fucking love Charles. THANK YOU for asking this question 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

[–] genericusernamepls@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Holy shit Silver was not ready for that lol

[–] Waxed_Sasquatch@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Barkley caught him.

What a bullshit answer, “we don’t want to get ahead of other leagues”. Wtf???

[–] Kittens4Brunch@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

He's not going to say "we'll only do something if there's a conviction", because that sounds bad, but that's sort of what he meant. And he has a point, why should the NBA be responsible for something that our justice system is supposed to handle?

[–] pierogi_nigiri@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Sir Charles threw him a softball, and Skeletor actually chose not to set a positive example on this issue.

[–] clonegreen@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

That girl in the back is apparently a big fan of domestic violence reform

[–] Tangajanga@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

They need to just ban them like how they do when they take steroids or bet on the game. Weird that they are more strict on drugs than violence towards women

[–] Hot-Foot96@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago
[–] RobSpaghettio@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Surprising that this goblin said nothing of value

[–] Nats_CurlyW@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Why do people in the sports business say program when they mean rules?

[–] fhjslalgllvlc@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Unfortunately common in pro sports

[–] starsky1984@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Nice if he mentioned that they also have counselling and support for any women who are abused as well

[–] AbelardsArdor@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

"Enormous consequences" he says at the end... like what, exactly? Miles Bridges is a piece of shit and should never play another minute of NBA basketball. To my knowledge at least, there's been no actual punishment on him for this most recent stuff.

[–] jutah001@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Also Charles…women don’t need watches

[–] RxJax@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Not the greatest answer from Silver but remember, the NBPA are the guys who protect and coddle these abusers, Silver works for the owners, he can't just boot these players out the league without mass approval

[–] imtayloronreddit@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

right, Chuck shoulda asked CJ McCollum this question

[–] sadrapsfan@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Will be curious what happens with bridges. I understand he was suspended for his original offence but that shouldn't make him escape additional punishment for new things. It will take time for due process but if nothing comes of it, insanely bad look

[–] iamtreat@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

it was a tough question for silver to answer on the spot, but i wouldve hoped he said something a little more meaningful

[–] Green-Umpire2297@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

If the players in general need special counselling to teach them not to hit women when they are stressed, there’s more than a little problem

[–] Garkech@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Adam "empty words" Silver

[–] Surflover12@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I love barkley

[–] WeefBellington24@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Consequences only enormous for bad basketball players

[–] cjeremy@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

ya.. pfff. silver looks like a weasel and he is one.

[–] Curryfor30@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

What a shit answer from Silver. Goes right out the gate saying the NBA isn't looking to be more progressive then other leagues. He'd rather hold the line than "rattle any feathers". What a fucking joke.

[–] Caluak@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Horrible answer by Silver

[–] TheFrebbin@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I’m imagining some telling me in 1990 that Charles Barkley, of all people, would be the voice I trust most in pro sports about moral and social issues.

Adam silver is the worst commissioner in sports. His daddy David Stern must be spinning in his grave

[–] Lars_Galaxy@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

It's called a question, one that needs some answers. Good on Chuck for asking it.
