How about the police domestic violence problem? They have a higher rate than athletes.
NBA - Main
Game analysis, highlights and everything else that is happening in the NBA.
Why didn't he just be direct and ask, What are you going to do about that animal Miles Bridges?
He brings up domestic violence against women but what about the throwing billiards balls at a car full of kids loophole?
“We’re not looking to compete against other leagues” what a chickenshit answer. He knows exactly what Barkley meant, and completely side stepped it.
Should’ve asked a more serious question about making business in Communist China instead.
Maybe an interviewer should ask Charles why he spit on a fan.
Silver is a neutered dog. Dude always get bullied by the players.
I’m writing Chuck in for president next year
Silver, you’re licking nasty ass
We do NOT deserve him.
As a completely normal person, it infuriates me that there is SUCH a double standard.
If I beat the hell out of my wife and ended up taking a mug shot? I think I’d have to get a new job.
Charles became a reddit insert character in the past couple years. Really bizarre.
How hard was it to say that DV is inexcusable and unacceptable?
Kudos Chuck, asking the question that needs to be asked. Worthless answer by silver though
Nosferatu is a lying mofo.
great question from barkley about the culture and gotta shoutout silver, its not him thats doing these things but ultimately responsible or held liable as the NBA commisoner
In a world where every league/big money media property only ever appears in front of friendly/handpicked media to avoid ever having to take tough questions, it's great to see someone like Chuck who isn't afraid to bring up difficult issues (because he knows they can't blackball him).
Someone actually putting their clout/credibility to good use. Full props to Chuck, as per usual.
it's hard to do something about isn't it? in many of these cases, we kind of know what happened, but if the accuser takes the accusation back, what can you really do
'The consequences are enormous.' Aka, they get 15 games off and are welcomed back like nothing happened immediately after
The near unanimous support for abusers amongst the larger player fraternity is a barrier to any progress or action. When has a player, who has documented proof against them, been disowned by the player community? They are always welcomed back, again and again and again.
Lol like Chuck hadnt had a violence problem himself at this age.
Uh.. he didn't. It's not hard to not hit women.
Between this and Chuck's support for the LGBTQ+ community he's the GOAT. But I think we could go a step further (there's nothing wrong with Chuck's statement it just made me think of something), he says that you can't put your hands on women, that statement needs to be extended to everyone. Don't put your hands on your partner regardless of gender, don't put your hands on anybody.
Yeah I love Chuck, but he’s definitely a bit old school. I would bet he has some conservative opinions on a lot of stuff.
Old man has traditional opinion more at 11
He’s honestly progressive as hell for his age and demographic, who cares if he maybe wants lower taxes or some shit he sticks up for LGBT and women’s rights when it matters
Yeah, like I said he’s socially progressive in some ways, no reason we can’t be happy about that. Like I said, I love Chuck. Im just saying I don’t think he’s some overall radical leftie like people talk him up to be, I wish that were the case, but he’s an older mainstream liberal, nothing wrong with that
You’ve got to be kidding me with how fucking brain dead this comment comes across.
What the fucking fuck else do you expect out of him? Are you actually fucked in the head?!?
hahahaha
Lots of older libs have real wack opinions on trans people so i’m putting him a level ahead of them
Very true, like I said, he seems like a good person, I think he’s the funniest man in sports at the same time honestly
Yeah lol, a 60 year old from the South? It’s amazing that he’s pro LGBT
silver with the HOF All-PR team excellent political answer. take no personal responsibility and talk about the issue as if its some kind of phenomenon or natural fact of life that happens and is completely out of your control or scope of responsibility. only thing he failed on is he squirms too much to sell it.
this line in particular is gold from a pr standpoint:
“…when a guy crosses the line, the consequences are enormous.”
consequences ARE enormous. like its just a thing that happens. nothing to say about who hands down those consequences. doesnt say they WILL be enormous. or NEED TO BE enormous.
he makes no effort to tie himself to this and took zero personal responsibility or claimed to do better going forward. just like stating a fact that the consequences are enormous. a nothing phrase.anybody who had any respect left for him as commish should hear this and know he is a terrible leader and its no surprise the culture is the way it is.
Chuck for president
Good on Chuck. Silver conveniently forgets that there are fans of the league who are women, so it’s nice to see him being held accountable.
Ja treated like he’s Magneto in containment but they have to skirt around Miles Bridges like Silver doesn’t know what Chuck is talking about
What are they gonna do, fire him? Huge respect to Chuck for using his platform/legacy to speak out about this stuff, its easy to forget after all his goofiness but the dude is always batting for the right side on these things.
Chuck is such a boss.
Adam Silver: "It depends. If the player is a star or important to his team, we'll investigate it thoroughly and not jump to conclusions, but if he's a roleplayer no one cares about, his ass will be sent directly to China"
Chuck is goated
“Well…you threw me….under the bus
Credit to Chuck for the question, and predictable PR fluff garbage from Silver. It's gonna take more PR embarrassment to force more out of Silver on this but there unfortunately just isn't a ton he can do.
He can place guys on the commissioners exemption list while allegations are ongoing....that hasn't even happened with Bridges. He's set to play in a few weeks. The player's association will only allow for so much. Bridges sat out in conjunction with the player's association allowing it and not filing a grievance.
Silver came across clueless as usual. his only strength as commissioner is that he’s pro player and players run the NBA.
Chuck is so god damn based it's unfair to the rest of us
Lot of domestic violence in San Antonio
Chuck already in playoff form
Silvers begun to bother me. Plus why’s he holding the mic like that?
Great question from a great man who has been great for the league...
And a pathetic answer from a pathetic man who has not.
Barkley rules. I hope he never changes.
Training? That's the answer? Counseling? You gotta have HR bring in a counselor and have a 4 hour session about why beating women is bad? That's gonna fix it? Doesn't seem to work very well in the NFL, I doubt it'll work in the NBA. What a lame, and completely expected, answer.
good on chuck man
